I wonder if the cedar has the same effect with wasps that it has with moths?

I wonder if the cedar has the same effect with wasps that it has with moths? That would be awesome, but I am going to try to seal it up as much as possible. Bought some cedar colored silicon caulk today and a few extra boards at the saw mill to finish the siding and build a door.

Good looking blind. Only problem I had with cedar blind is woodpeckers love to peck on cedar.

Thanks all. The blind is in Lee County. Last weekend I got a door installed with a cedar handle and a latch for a lock. I also used small cedar tree trunks for corner trim after cutting 2 sides flat on my table saw. I caulked before the install (found cedar colored silicon caulk) to try to seal it up as much as possible. I did some hog hunting with a buddy Sat evening and it was real nice, but the hogs, which had been coming to the feeder every evening before dark, didn't show.

Yeah, it looks expensive, but actually I only paid $100 to have all the cedar milled(3 8' logs about 12" diameter), which is less than siding from Home Depot would have cost. I used 2x3 framing which is also pretty cheap, so not too expensive overall, and I wanted to build something that will still be there when I'm gone decades down the road. I'll be using it for deer hunting as well, except for bow season when I'll be in a popup in a cedar tree closer to the feeder (you can see it in the drone pic)

If I spent that much time and effort on a deer blind it would have been bigger and nicer t so close to the feeder.

If I spent that much time and effort on a deer blind it would have been bigger and nicer t so close to the feeder. I'm fairly new to hunting after buying our property a couple of years ago, but I talked to many long time hunters. Most said that a 5x8 blind that you can stand up in, would be very roomy and feel big, so that's what I built. It is about 40-45 yards from the feeder, but we have less than 30 acres, and only one small clearing, so it works really well. Even when I'm 15 yards from the feeder in a pop up, there's TONS of deer and hogs.

Is there a stairway or just a ladder?
If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

There will be a platform just outside the door about 2.5' x 2.5', and a stairway coming down to the right side of the picture. I'm planning to install a couple of cedar posts on the ends of the 2x6's that are sticking out and have some cedar railing around the platform. The stairway will also serve as diagonal bracing.

I'm in Lee county too. If you don't mind my asking, who milled that cedar for you?

I'm in Lee county too. If you don't mind my asking, who milled that cedar for you? There's a guy named Steve near Giddings that has a sawmill at his house a few miles down the road that intersects with 290 at Bucees. Send me a PM and send you his number if your interested.

I got the stairs built a couple of weeks ago, which made a huge difference getting in and out with a rifle. Also installed a cedar table/shelf in the center of the front wall. I had a buddy out and he took down the first hog from the new blind. This weekend, I'll be installing window latches and weather stripping. It should be wasp proof after that. I used expanding foam in the gaps at the ends of the overlapping siding and that worked well. I'm also installing 1/2" foam flooring from Harbor Freight this weekend. Almost done!
