Well then, evidently for you and NP I'll have to explain. Opinions are fine, it's the part about "disdain" that the op mentions, and that is dripping from several of the posts that doesn't "bother" me, but does deserve to be pointed out for what it is.

And it is benchmark elitism.

This one, yes. As I said, he was in some really tall grass at the edge of a field. After he was dead I went to the initial spot. He had been standing facing me, but his front feet were on a berm at the edge, and his back feet were actually in a ditch on the other side of the berm. So his body was at a steep angle to the ground, not parallel. I had held on his chest but shot a little low and left. The bullet entered just behind his ribcage and raked back, exiting through one of his hams. He ran towards me on a line parallel to me, reducing the distance from 120-130 yards to about 80 when the second shot (that hit) was fired. The second bullet hit just above the first but exited in front of the off-side ham. The third bullet was several inches in front of those, through the heart/lung region, at a distance of about 60 yards at which point he was almost perpendicular to me.

Rough diagram of the three hits in MSPaint

You are "Mr. Black and White"/to heck with everyone else when it comes to your own opinions. "Disdain" could often be your middle name. Yet you are very sensitive when it comes to opinions that are not your own.

Yes. Disdain does elicit disdain from me. But I NEVER initiate it. And I'm as multicolored as one can be without being gay. As I said, I don't worry myself with any technique or tool any other hunter employees. That counselor is about as far from black and whit as one can get.

Glad to be of service.

[quote/]+1. I used to go to public shooting ranges a fair amount. The ratio of dangerous folks with ARs vs. dangerous folks with bolt rifles I conservatively estimate at 8:1. Just the way it is. This causes perception problems. [/quote]

This. I've almost given up on my favorite public range because of the IDIOTS with ARs. The mag dumps where they pepper my target instead of theirs. Or they are ALWAYS trying to sight in their rifles and hit my target..then question whether I'M looking at the right one (I have a 24x scope). Or looking down the end of their noses at anything that isn't loaded down with every tacticool accessory like theirs. Or the stink face at anyone who shows them up with a bolt gun, lever gun, or even Mosin Nagant. Speaking of bolt guns they always want to talk about "snipers". Or the nonstop stupid chatter instead of actually learning to shoot the damn thing. Or muzzle sweeping everyone while they fiddle with their gun...I could go on...99% of the times that the range officer has to chew butt its an AR shooter.

Sorry for the rant. I don't mean to throw a stereotype over all AR owners. I'm just grouchy. There are many respectable owners and fans of the AR platform; especially on this forum. I even own a basic AR chambered in 223...though I'm not really a fan of it I can see the appeal. I just think to many dudes are more interested in playing "army" than actually focusing on achieving maximum effectiveness as a marksman.

The way I look at the AR platform be it AR15 or AR10 it is a tool. No better or worse than any other tool we use daily. It can be fun, competitive, serious or provider.

Our perception of the AR has many influences, media, military, political etc. For us older people it is something new to accept or reject for whatever reason. Young
people tend to grasp new ways more readily. Just look at social media.

There is a more that could be said here but at the end of the day, the AR is a tool. Go out have fun and relax around the campfire with a cool one.

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

The problem with the AR platform is people like jtprocaddie using it. Everyone on this website knows what I'm talking about. It's not the weapon. It's the weapons owner.

It also depends on how the ar is built I have two ars one of them has a top of the line barrel and great scope and great trigger it's a tack driver just as accurate if not more accurate then my Remington 700
I also have one it's a basic build with slide fire stock for when I take people with me and they want to shoot as fast as they can and just have fun
Like I posted earlier in this thread only reason I don't hunt with my good ar is becuase I don't know how the group I hunt with would feel about it and I am a guest at their place
