I have a good female Brittany right now. When I think back on all of the greatest bird dogs I've hunted behind in the last 35 years, almost all of them were male.

Males win more trials for a reason. I go with boys when i need to get stuff done. Pets, dont care either way. This has more to do with economics/heat cycles rather than inherent ability of males vs females. Yeah ive heard that before and dont buy it. In other doggie games males do better as well.
I'll take a Black Female every time.

Females come in heat 2 times a year. Males stay in heat 365 days a year. Forrest

I've hunted spayed females for 50 years and none have been consistently beaten by males. +1

I would spend my time finding a good breeder and let me decide whether male or female which suits you and your needs better.
I'll take a Black Female every time.
