I had one of the $10 LED Ebay motion activated lights on my feeder for a while, and it worked, but only for about 9 months, then it died.

I've been putting together a new light that will be on all the time at night, then a 2nd light will come on when there is motion.

I bought a 20 pack of these "marker LED's" off Ebay pretty cheap. They are intended to be installed in a 3/4" hole and have a lens designed for making the light visible on the side of a trailer or other vehicle. I cut the lense off with a Dremel and 3 small LED chips were underneath.

Two of these lights are siliconed into PVC pipe, and an exterior double gang box is used to house the 12v motion sensor (Ebay), angled down slightly, and the 12v photo cell (Ebay). I'm going to power all of this from the feeder battery which is already charged by a solar cell. This box will be mounted to the bottom of the feeder box. There will be a coon cage around all of it. One marker LED pulls about 28 milliamps, so I'm thinking it will be no problem running one all night, every night.

The wiring isn't all done yet but you can see how it's going to be arranged. One light will shoot straight down, and the motion activated LED will angle out towards the side a bit, away from the blind, same side as the motion sensor.

It will be fun to put the game cam on video for a while and watch the hogs and deer get used to the light.

I was going to get two of these, since they put out 900 lumens each, and cover them with a green projection film, then mount them on two trees so that my feed area is good and green.

I'm not as handy as you so I go the slightly more expensive lazy route. I cant afford hundreds of dollars for specialty hog hunting lights, and im still building my AR so ill be using my old 30-30 and that means no rifle light.

That looks like a nice light, but 900 lumens is very bright. The sudden light might scare off anything that comes to the feeder.
