Found this info online. A 6.5 mm short mag possibly.
Cal: 6.5mm/.264" COL: 2.960' Case head: .532" (standard Magnum) Shoulder: 30 degrees Action: Medium (written in pencil, "short") Twist rate: 1:7 or 1:8 Barrel life: It looks like it was "1200" with the "1" having been written over in pencil to "2200" Muzzle velocity: 3000fps with 140gr ELD Match (caveated as "Early Test Results")

Only what I have read elsewhere. Shortened Ruger magnum case with about 3-5 grains less capacity than the 6.5 SAUM Brass available later this year, ammo in 2018.

3-5 gr less case capacity than the 6.5 SAUM? So what's the point? Is it going to be a 100% case fill, or more?

I don't see the point either. Basically a 6.5x284 in a shorter action with less pressure?

Seen PRS competitors go from a short action, to something with lots more horsepower (and recoil) back to a short action.
Time will tell, if it takes off.

One comment I have read elsewhere is the top loaders in competition like the round, top loading only you could load it long in a short action if you wanted but would have to shoot it or pull the bolt to unload.

Interesting. It's a 6.5 Rem Mag without the belt, and a 30 degree shoulder. At 2.960" length, you will struggle to get it in a short action with the heavy high BC bullets.

Off of facebook but george didn't discredit it either. Oddly the 6.5guys stopped by the hornady booth and they were kinda tight lipped about it.
"George Gardners statement on it- He said he's been running one for about 6 months or something like that.
"It's a great cure for the thousands if not ten thousands that will only run a top loaders and against mag Fed rifles. It's a non rebated short mag based on a short RCM case it 3-4 Gr less capacity then the 6.5 SAUM which nets about a 30-50 fps deficit to the SAUM. I've had one for 6 months now and it's a great cartridge for the Production companies to get behind."
Brass will be available in April May, Amunition in 2018."

Too bad they did not just standardize the 6.5 SAUM.

Having a hard time...have a 270 WSM Tikka NIB/ 24 in proof Carbon barrel and a Manners stock that should be in to me in 2 months...was going to do a SAUM...but might hold off for this...I like having a standard factory chamber, and good headstamp brass...

I would hold off just a little longer, there is talk the 6.5 SAUM will have a factory load soon.

I am thinking the announcement of the new Hornady round was an effort to squash the 6.5 SAUM before it got rolling toward factory. It seems to me announcing now with no brass or ammo available is not like Hornady normal business practice.... not saying I'm just saying.
