Sorry guys, no hoax, just interest in this unusual track that also also has ranch foreman puzzled, who grew up around this property. No SD card b/c I brought last one home for pics and camera was in shed. Only a 2 1/2 hour drive to get the camera online again. Will get camera up again as soon as I can get back to lease. I will ask foreman to keep his eyes out for giant slug, though. I sure hope its not indigo snake big enough to make 10 inch wide track!
Interesting, it's hard to tell direction but my impression was drag went from front of feeder, hooked to the right, then led to area under oak tree about 20 feet to right of feeder. Area under tree was sandy and full of tracks, should have looked for more sign under the tree. I got impression that whatever was dragged, was dragged under that tree. If predator, he nailed pig or less likely small deer in front of feeder, dragged through sand, then headed right for area under tree. However, area in front of feeder is wide open, so maybe it was ambush from under that oak, nailed piggie then dragged him under feeder. Hope to get more input from foreman, or else we will get camera running again and hope for pics.

Just a suggestion, Bob. Buy two SD cards for every camera. That way you never have any down time. That's what we do and sure makes it nice if you can't get back to the ranch for awhile.

Yep, was end of season when we put it in shed, didn't get it back in play as we usually do. Gonna follow your plan.

Found ONLY in certain parts of Texas. Has the unique ability to reverse its direction of travel without turning around (comes in and leaves on the same trail). The male of the species often leave a separate drag mark along side the main track (can be either side).

Looks like the trail I leave dragging my cooler across the beach, but no sign of were I stop every twenty feet and drink a cold one....
Hunting at your place adds a whole other level to you not being the only predator, if it is a gator......

It really does look like a cooler being drug. Its almost too clean to be an animal doing anything. Animal tracks and signs are never that symmetrical and clean in my experience.
Its a prank or a poacher or a pranking poacher.

If it's a cat you should be able to follow the drag to a pile of sticks, brush and leaves covering what's left of the hog. They never eat them all in one sitting. Which brings an interesting question that I'm not sure has been asked.
In the photos you posted, we cannot see the the beginning of nor the end of the drag mark. I'm assuming you followed this drag so where did it begin and where did it end? Another thing that perplexes me. If you think it's a cat dragging a pig, why wouldn't the drag simply start at the feeder and go one direction?
Finally, why is a new SD card delaying the photo op? Just delete the images on the one you already have. I'm starting to think this may be a prank. Either by you on us, or by someone on you. BUMP! Hey BobC, we need a follow-up.

Was at lease this weekend and no similar tracks under feeders. I did get new SD card in game cam overlooking the feeder where the drag marks were. Will also call foreman to see if he has any more sightings or info. Good weekend, nailed a super fat sow hog with my double rifle (a little overkill, but hunting close quarters and iron sights is great fun). Got to watch sandhill cranes feeding alongside 3 deer, 7 whoopers flying over, and our ponds finally full enough to duck hunt. Too muddy to get to marsh to fish for reds. Isn't the Texas coast unbelievable for all the outdoor opportunities.

Whoa.. makes you wonder what the noises are around you while sitting in your blind. If you shoot the cougar, do you have to use your tag to get the deer with it?

Can't make it out but the time stamp on that picture was 4:31 AM. That is pretty much the time I am headed to the blind. I never go afield without my 45 Colt or 45 Super.
