Where the heck are you seeing badgers in Texas? Mills County has lots of Badgers. I made the mistake years ago of shooting one, putting it in an empty feed sack, and chunking it in the back of a full cab CJ7 with me. I made it about a hundred yards before I stopped and unloaded it. Yep, back in the 70's and 80's we owned 800 acres in Goldthwaite. Saw my first Badger there. Also have seen Badgers in South Texas.

I came face to face with one once and I'll tell you they don't show fear. We had a stare down and then it just scurried off to my relief. They do if you put a Dachshund on 'em!

Where the heck are you seeing badgers in Texas? OP is clearly a badger. Saw a badger run across the road in Parker County several years ago, maybe 3-4 years, early morning just west of Poolville. Took a while to figure out what I saw as it was low, wide and sorta shuffled across the road rather than loping.

Looks like a feeder.
I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

The only way to know for sure it's a badger is to rub it's belly and tickle its ears.
If you wake up the next day in the ER, it was a badger.

I find it hard to believe none of you have ever seen a long haired Mexican armadillo. Most likely it followed a trail up north.

Well Wyoming badgers don't have tails like that. I have never seen a badger with it's tail in the air.Body too short, legs too long. Young bobcat or feral cat.

After a closer look , I must confess it is a badger. They do put up a tail when perturbed.
