Shot 10 times. Super accurate. Low recoil with brake considering the caliber. Just too dang loud.

Have a friend who bought one for an elk hunt. He got his elk and was happy. He decided to shoot some deer with it and this is a direct quote "you just cant shoot deer with that thing if you want to eat them"
It's hell eatin em live

Thats a very considerate gift for a friend, but would a 300 win mag maybe be a better choice? I am not sure what game will be pursued, but I can shoot 300 Win Mag without too much of a problem from sight in to field use. A friend had a 300 RUM and I put a few rounds through it to confirm zero and it was brutal, of course it does not have a brake on it. Not knocking your choice, just saying there may be other caliber choices that would also work well with less powder. the 300 win mag all day long
hold on Newt, we got a runaway

It sold in about 10 minutes. Got flooded with I wants. Kinda nutty. Had it been for me and not a gift I plan on giving I would have kept it. But that wasn't my objective to have it for me. Truly was a beautiful piece. Hard handing it over. And 10 was all the rounds I had that I wanted to shoot. Wanted to keep the factory loads. With that brake on it could have shot it all day.

I met a 13 year old from Friona, TX, who shot one in R700 with a super, super light stock. Had a muzzle brake and dang that thing was loud. He said it helped in the Canyon because the noise went every which way, confusing the aoudad and allowing him to reengage in the event of a miss.
I dunno how true that is. It was super loud but this kid was skinnier than me and biggest I've shot is a 9lb 300WM. He eye-shotted a medium sow hog from 250yd with it as well.
Dunno if that helps! Insanely fast cartridge as well, as compared to 30-06 vapor trail.

If the loads you were shooting were the same loads you sold in the classifieds those were not even full power 300RUM loads. Those were power level 1. To get the full effect of the 300RUM you have to jump up to power level 3.

Ones I had were hand loads from a friend. 87 grains of H4831 over 180 nos BT. Power was pretty full I think. Lol.
