I'll second that. Looks like you found some oaks up in the mid range area. So used to seeing creosote and desert shrubs. Absolutely gorgeous country. On my bucket list, for sure.

Thanks for all the kind words. We were at about 5700 ft of elevation where the deer was. The hog was closer to 6000 or so. I shocked myself a bit with the distance of the shot. Wind was no factor and helped me. 300 Win Mag helped as well. Deer shot not so challenging but had to free hand it. Situation just popped up and had to make quick decision to take the shot. Yote off a rest and it had no chance. Its ruggged up there much like the Wyoming Rockies or Big Horns. Lots of climbing and lots of sucking air cool I will post some scenery pics later. It is spectacular country indeed
