The sand would not obscure the gator's footprints. It didn't in the pics fouzman cited and it won't because the gator's legs are splayed out to the side of the box. This is rather critical. When the gator walks, its feet are out to the side and not underneath it. He needs his teeth brushed and that nasty tongue.

Doesn't look like alligator. There are no corresponding fresh prints alongside of the fresh drag. And when gator bellies do drag the ground, the tail tends to swish side to side leaving a serpentine print. None of this is present. Double Naught is correct. I lived in and hunted in Florida for 8 years. I have seen more gator tracks than I cared to. (They scare the bejeesus out of me) This is 100% NOT a gator. The tip of the tail swishes from side to side as they walk and leaves a distinct mark in the sand that is not present in these photos.

It also dawned on me that with feeder going off at 6:30 am and my coming by @ 9:30 that this track happened after all the corn was eaten under feeder. Lots of churned up sand under feeder, so lots of critter activity when feeder went off. The evening befpre I had 4 bucks at this feeder so it is used heavily. No corn in drag mark, only a sandhill track and a few deer prints at one end of drag. Foreman saw something similar a few weeks ago that puzzled hell out of him. Hope my buddy can get game cam set up and we can figure this our.

I have not read the answers to your question. I think you had a poacher in and shot a Buck deer that you thought was too young under the feeder and drug him out.

Trail cam delayed until I can get new SD card out there. definitely not poacher, no human prints around track and foreman and another lease member saw similar drags, one at same blind, one @ 1/2 mile away much further from pond. I'm still betting in bobcat ambushing hog, dragging by walking backwards. Hope we can get pics to confirm. Bob

If it's a cat you should be able to follow the drag to a pile of sticks, brush and leaves covering what's left of the hog. They never eat them all in one sitting. Which brings an interesting question that I'm not sure has been asked.
In the photos you posted, we cannot see the the beginning of nor the end of the drag mark. I'm assuming you followed this drag so where did it begin and where did it end? Another thing that perplexes me. If you think it's a cat dragging a pig, why wouldn't the drag simply start at the feeder and go one direction?
Finally, why is a new SD card delaying the photo op? Just delete the images on the one you already have. I'm starting to think this may be a prank. Either by you on us, or by someone on you.

We had a hog with a nasty bum leg a few years ago you could tell everywhere he had been because he left drag marks where he was dragging his back half. Not saying that's what it is, but he lived for several months. We never saw him in person but did find his remains near our tank.

Never seen a cat drag anything 'backwards' for any distance.
Doubt is was a 'kill' that was dragged away, more likely whatever made the drag mark did so under its own locomotion, this presumes we are dispensing with any 'human' involvement.

Okay, so all we have to do is to figure out what creates a drag mark that also has a dual set of drag channels on one side without any corresponding channels on the other side and that doesn't leave any discernible footprints in the process.
The dual channels (see the original post) on one side and not on both sides is very interesting. It is an asymmetrical drag. What animals create asymmetrical drag trails like that which are that large and don't leave footprints?
Curiouser and Curiouser.
fouzman may be on to something about the hoax angle.

DNS wrote:What animals create asymmetrical drag trails like that which are that large and don't leave footprints? Can only be one thing. The Giant Texas Feeder Slug. Found ONLY in certain parts of Texas. Has the unique ability to reverse its direction of travel without turning around (comes in and leaves on the same trail). The male of the species often leave a separate drag mark along side the main track (can be either side).
