We arrived in Kansas on Thursday for the evening hunt. We had a hot doe between Dave and I in the wood line. That evening alone we saw three shooter bucks and one was a dandy. The hunts through Saturday were the same as there was a lot of activity. During this timeDave and I made an adjustment and put up two pop ups . We had two feeders and four chum piles of corn and they hadnt been touched in a week. After consulting w Dave I put my pop up in the back of the lease on the edge of a wheat field And creek. The location is inbetween two bedding areas that are very close by. But we do not hunt back there because the landowner neighbor is of the worst kind. I made a quick trip home and was back for last nights hunt. To the north of the pop up is 450 acres winter wheat, to the east is a continuation of the wheat field for about another 400 yards. The bedding areas Sw and se of the pop up. I got in the stand around and knew something was going to happen because the deer were inactive for 48 hours. At 5:30 the big ten was trailing a doeinthe field to the east and another buck came out in the same area. I look out the front of the pop up and Abigail buck is chasing a doe and they are both running. So I glass the field and the buck to the east is all that is left. ( FYI I have never called a deer in with a call). So I hit the grunt tube with a deities of grunts that I learned from YouTube. So I lift the binoculars and the buck is looking in my direction. I was so happy just that he heard me soI hit it again. And the big boy headed straight to the game trail trying to get downwind. I could hear my heart pumping and thought " oh crud it's about to godown" So I glance out the front of my pop up as I am getting situated and here comes another big buck from the west wood line and the bucks are on a collision course to the front of my pop up. Well they met out front and one buck turned around and headed back to the game trail. I was so pumped it took both hands to get the release set on the bow. As soon as I had a clean shot I stopped the buck with a faint grunt. I could barely see the pins, but was very careful not to rush the shot. The arrow hit with a thud and stuck in him. He ran north east through the field, which was perfect because the neighbor is a @@@@, and he did not go down to a creek which is just difficult to pulls big buckoutbymyself. So I call Dave tell him I think I hit him in the neck and he is in the wood line. The buck ran eighty yards and died inthe field. I walked right past him and got in the tree line looking for 30 minutes. After looking for my luminous and not finding blood I started walking back to the truck which was at the pop up and accidentally stumbled upon my deer. I am a fairly new hunter so it does not take much to get me all excited. Dave has to love the entertainment value of having me around. Loaded up the RV and back home in the great State of Texas Feeling Blessed!🤓

Great buck, Ramsey. What does one like that weigh from up there? He was over 200 lbs on hoof. I am guessing by the effort it too to drag, flip and get him in the truck, another year and he would be a moose. I think TREX killed one that was 260 field dressed.

Glad you found him. That's a lot of groceries. He looks wasted in the second pic; prolly shoulda called him an uber.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.
