The deer on our place are pretty used to us and our Ranger at this point, so a lot of the time we just drive right on up to the stand. For our box blind, I just park the Ranger right behind it, so just a tiny portion is peeking out. For one of our other stands, I've literally parked it within five feet of the stand and had deer walk up within ten minutes of me getting settled in (and it's an open air stand that uses nothing but burlap netting as camouflage). Saturday evening we didn't get done installing a heater in time to make it out to the stand, so we just sat on the front porch of the cabin. Hubby was smoking a cigar. I was talking on the phone. We both had our rifles out. We have a feeder about 100 yards away from the cabin, and lo and behold, a bunch of fawns just trotted right on up, followed by a couple of yearlings. They looked up at us and then went right back to eating. The moral of the story: if the deer are used to you, I'm pretty sure they DGAF.

On the old place we hunted, we'd always get dropped off right at the stand by whichever hunter was hunting the farthest from camp. Due to the topography of the property, the road system was essentially one long line away from camp which was in the corner of the property. It didn't have any impact on deer sightings that 30ish minutes before first light a loud vehicle just drove right through the area we were hunting and often times within 30 yards of the feeder. On the lease I hunt now that wouldn't work. The deer are a lot more sensitive to pressure and vehicle traffic. So, my conclusion, every property is different. If it seems you may be spooking deer out of the area by driving around then don't do it, on the other hand, if doesn't seem to impact them then go for convenience and don't worry about it.

Id rather be one being dropped off by a vehicle than the one parking and walking to a stand... deer get use to vehicles, utvs, tractors etc.. one that's been there is better than one that's not far away

Deer are easy animals to condition.. for good or bad. At the ranch I outfit, I drop our hunters off at their stands using the landowners old diesel f350. Deer have seen it for years and pretty much ignore it. That wasn't always the case. When I took the place over 16 years ago the previous lessee's hunted ONLY from their trucks and had essentially conditioned the deer to disappear anytime a truck pulled into a field. I made everyone walk to their stands regardless of distance for several seasons and the problem eventually reversed itself.

We generally park under our blinds and often have deer still on the food plots when we get into the blinds.

Since I wrapped my 3/4 ton, crew, diesel in camo I can drive anywhere I want... nothing knows I'm there.

On my old lease in Pecos County, I always said the best camo was a white diesel F-350 and a pair of blue coveralls. I watched the deer while dozers were running, while they were dynamiting pads, etc... nothing bothered them- except 4 wheelers. It's what they get used to.
