I am not able to get any reading off my Magneto with a suppressor (I assume distance from the bullet is the issue). Does the Suppressor have any effect on velocity? If so, how would you calculate it? Thanks

I work up looking for extractor marks. Once the load is decided I shoot to 800. Adjust MV in the calculator until the corrections match what I just shot. So, when you see extractor marks appear, what pressure level do you think you have reached? Have no idea. I've had several rifles that out of a large lot of brass 1/3 to 1/2 have extractor marks. Then I have some rifles that never show an extractor mark. I'm not saying its for everyone, but it's worked so far for me. Last year I was shooting a friend's .338 Lapua Mag, loaded with 300 gr Bergers, and +/- 90 gr of Retumbo. Once we got half way on the test powder charge scale a light extractor mark happened. We kept going, and every subsequent hotter load had a more pronounced extractor mark. I wish I would have taken a picture of those pieces of brass, it was educational. The rifle shot best on the mild extractor marked powder charge, and has shot hundreds of rounds since then without issue.
