I killed a large mature free ranging ram last year. The meat is very mild and had a pleasant flavor. However it was the toughest meat I have ever had. I've eaten free range and high fenced fed rams. Never had an aoudad that wouldn't make me throw deer meat of ANY kind in the garbage. You are right though, it needs to be tenderized.

We grilled thinly sliced Aoudad backstrap over mesquite coals on Friday, with just a little bit of Montreal steak seasoning on it, barely a minute on each side. Fantastic. The meat came from a young male shot as a cull.

I enjoy eating aoudad meat. I like the ewe's, and young rams. I've killed a few old rams, and the meat was very tough and didn't taste as good. I'll take a ewe, or a young ram, any day. My family loves eating aoudad meat.
Thanks,
Marty

One cup of baking soda and half a cup of salt added to the ice in the cooler. Let the meat sit in there a few days so you get a good slurry as the ice melts. The meat will be excellent. I do this with doves, turkey whitetail stinky hogs. Man it works every time.

You can. I'm not. Sheep and goats are too stupid to eat.

I actually tried Aoudad meat. It took a VERY LONG time to cook but the meat was good. Definitely this will be a good fit for Indian food. I would only hunt if I get a ridiculously cheap price like I did last time for $150 for Ewes. (Offer is over now). I dont think its worth more than $300. My Opinion.
