That would be my guess as well. No need to attract unwanted attention or be accused of being disrespectful at this time. Let things calm down and families bury their dead and they'll be back.

Have they pulled their Glocks from the shelves too? Selling AR's right now isn't the least bit disrespectful and if anyone thinks it is it's absolutely ridiculous. This way of thinking directly contributes to the antis being able to chip away at the stone a little at a time.

Yes they took them down. Yes you can still buy one.
The reason they are giving manufactures is they have a limited supply and did not want to have a sell out run on them by speculators and have them for actual buyers that want a gun for them selves.
I do know last time they sold out extremely fast then there were tons of their guns at double the price in dealers.
I don t know if this type of attemp to control sales will work though.
Also trust me no one in the industry wants to see the prices skyrocket like last time. It saturated the market with overpriced guns two years later and actually hindered gun sales.

Word is also out that if you buy more than 10 boxes of .223/5.56, they will take your contact information down and send it to their corporate office. WOW!!! mad

I have three corporate Academy guys on two of my leases. One told me last night that their sales Monday were up 1000% from the same day last year.

So what you are saying is go in and buy all ar related stuff you can including ammo. Hope this doesn't blow up like last time but it seems like it may. Better go grab a box or two of 22 to get me buy a few years.

One independent gun dealer here in Alabama opened up the Monday after the Orlando shooting. He sold all his AR's (20) within three hours.

Maybe we shouldn't sell guns to foreigners. Would that fix the issue? Only way they could even remotely stop someone from getting their hands on one would be go door to door taking them away. But even at that point they will still exist. Seems the last two shootings were Isis claimed so since Americans can't have guns we will be safer that way. Best logic I've ever heard government.

What a tool! I guess that the "explosions" affect me differently. I'm still grinning like a mule eating thistles an hour after firing just a few times. The brass shell casings only disorient me when I can't find them in the grass to pick up for reloading. If a .223 bruised his shoulder, he must be anemic. An AR chambered in 7.62x39 or an AR 10 might put the poor fellow on his back. Jeepers!

KKR, a New York investment firm, bought Academy a few years so it has not been a Texas-owned company for awhile.

And KKR has them up for sale.

I think it probably just a taste thing at this point. Academy has a big presence in FL. I bet in a week or a couple they will bring them back out.

From Breitbart.com

Quote:
“We got the call from corporate just before close to take the rifles off of display, only after all customers have left for the night. MSR’s are still for sale, but will not be displayed “for about a week or two,” a store manager who wished to remain unnamed told Reddit blogger, “Potato_Muncher.

The move was said to be out of respect for those who were killed and injured in the Islamic terrorist attack in Orlando where the shooter used an AR-15 style rifle to carry out the attack.

Breitbart Texas visited two Academy stores in the Houston area and verified that store employees were directed to take the rifles down from the display shelves. The rifles were stocked in locked racks under the display shelves and were readily available if a customer wanted to look at them or purchase them.

One store employee told Breitbart Texas he did not know if the policy was temporary or if there were any plans to discontinue the sale of the AR-15 style rifles altogether.

Not going to panic but it doesn't make much sense to me.
