I believe it's possible. At least you choose a friend. Much easier to adapt to than a liberal daughter-in-law that was chosen for you. (And even she'll eat deer meat and doesn't seem to mind me hunting, that is, what little we've communicated beyond social niceties.)

Several different places I've read, whether youtube comments, vitriol about a PH friend of mine getting killed in Africa, etc., people making references to an animal's "family". Human's are the only ones with families. A pack, pod, herd is not a "family". Animals only think (and "think" isn't even the right term - just "wired" is probably better) about surviving themselves. Of course, they care for their young, but to call them a "family" is very sadly naïve. They do not "think" or care about a single other adult of their own species. Doubly sad...I think we're becoming more like them every day. x2 of course the Alpha Female's definition of a human family is also probably skewed. "That makes many sad"

What really bothers the other deer is when you shoot one in a feed pen and it craters right on top of a bunch of corn they were hoping to eat. They'll come right back into the pen and eat corn all around the body and could care less about the corpse.

Resurrecting this 'cause we kept the kids last night. This morning, I'm sitting with this boy at that kitchen table and see two deer across the back of the yard. I just want to point them out to my grandson and, when he sees them, he asks me "Are you going to kill them?" I just wanted to point out a couple of does to my grandson in my backyard. A long discussion ensued. Screw you Miss Mary Jane!
