They gave me the option of sending the gun to them for the new stocks or they could send me the stocks to do it myself. I opted for them just sending me the stocks since it would save me the cost of shipping the gun.

You are correct that they discontinued the Dura Touch for the very reason that I am having to get new stocks. Over the years it gets sticky and gummy without even being exposed to chemicals. The new stocks will not be Dura Touch and they wont even match the gun because they don't make them in camo anymore. My gun is Shadow Grass camo I believe and the stocks they are sending me are black. I plan to have the new stocks dipped or something to get them to match as best as I can.

In the past I have only had to deal with Browning customer service once and it was right after they took over Winchester. I needed a part for a Model 94 lever gun and they were great! I cant say that about the situation I am dealing with now.

There's an old trick for rubberized coatings that get sticky and turn into dirt magnets. I had a Russian night-vision scope do me that way.

The trick is to try rubbing with a cloth that has brake fluid on it, on a small area. On the Russian scope, all of the sticky stuff came right off, leaving the housing intact.

Dunno how that would work on a gun stock. If you try it, try it on a small area somewhere not usually visible.

On a thumb drive with the same problem, I got the coating to come off with 91% rubbing alcohol. Lots more rubbing though, than it took with brake fluid.

Sorry you are having trouble. I've dealt with Browning/Winchester CS a few times and it was acceptable, not fantastic like I've experienced with Weatherby, CZ and Franchi but okay. I would still rather deal with Browning/Winchester than Beretta. I've always wondered why Beretta's CS stinks yet their subsidiaries CS is excellent.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.
