So is this a new unit but using cheaper internals, or is it cheaper AND better than the older FLIR-internal models?

Nobody knows how it will do. So far, there is only ATN hype.

I am just going to give a quick answer as it seems like some members know too much.

- ATN is still using the same US MADE germanium lens. NO Chinese lens or coating.
- The thermal "SENSOR" is made by ULIS
- The CORE/Processor is made by ATN
- HD is for the display we are using. Also your recorded content would be upstream to 1080P resolution.
- The thermals are assembled in the USA.

The first version would come in 30 FPS, but later on 50 FPS would be made available via a firmware update.

Its cheaper because now we are a CORE manufacturer. We dont have to buy parts from various suppliers like Flir.

Oh by the way, the new core will have contrast control as well. One thing that lacked in Tau2 cores.

After the x sight debacle...why are you shipping a product without all the features?

I bought an x sight and would be interested in thermal...after all the issues why should I take a risk with this unit?

Thank you SachalATN,

This cleared up a lot of questions I had, can you post some thermal videos taken with the New ThOr-HD? even if there just some teaser. LOL.

Eddie5364,
I know marketing is doing bunch of comparison videos. I'll see if I can share anything here.

Sachal

Since you're back, would really be interested in some type of a trade-in/trade-up for Gen I X-Sight to a Gen II or better yet, one of these new Thor HD's.

Thanks,
Charlie

Sorry ATN does not offer any trade in programs.

Any update on videos through the THOR HD? I was curious if you knew if the new THOR is just black and white or has color palletes as well? Is the 50 Hz upgrade definitely happening? I know for a lot of hog hunters the faster refresh rate is a big deal. I'm definitely interested in picking one up. What's the official release date?

You guys can save yourself a lot of and headaches, and benefit from all my mistakes and trial and error when trying to find the right thermal for my AR15.
Get yourself an Armasight Zeus or Pro. I went with the Zeus for its' simplicity of use . The Pro models are basically the same but use a different glass and are set up computer wise a little different but not much.
With the Zeus you'll get a variety of palette, crosshair, and magnification choices , (2 to 8 on mine) as well as contrast adjustment and brightness control. All very easy to do. Add on a rechargeable battery pack for extended time and your good to go.

I ordered mine through Night Vision guys, and returned several before sticking with one, which was the Zeus 640 3-24x75 30HZ.
Happy as heck with it, and got it and a battery pack for less than 6K.
And they're based out of San Francisco. Good luck!
