Barney, thank you for your expert opinion... no doubt you've stacked up many swans, cranes and snow geese w/a .22 smooth-bore and rat-shot... You are welcome. Keep on keeping on with your stupid posts!

Kweber, I'm just poking a little fun. I'm far from an expert and too poor to be a snob, just parroting things I've read from trusted sources. I shoot quail and skeet with a 28. I haven't worked up the nerve to shoot at ducks with it yet but I will practice and will one day. If I run into either you or Ducknbass I'd be proud to loan you one so you can give it a try if you want.
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

I just use a 28 for blue crab hunting. For dove and everything else I use a punt gun

Anyone else use 28's on ducks? Real question is. Does anyone else keep track of LST with a Rolex?

I think starting guys out on small bores is a great idea. I hear so many guys whining about other people skyblasting. Put a 20 or 28 in their hands for a few years and teach em to wait for good shots. I think it'd solve a lot of the problems with today's new breed of duck hunters
Cigarettes are like hamsters. Perfectly harmless til you put it in your mouth & light it on fire

It's so funny how the topic of sky blasting keeps coming up and the desire to further limit our range with steel loads by shoving fewer of them down a smaller bore slower.
Back in the 70s people used to be happy when they had a good 60 yard duck load in the 3" 12 and an ounce of lead 6s in the 20 was for timber and small ponds.
I'm pretty sure Mr. Buck and Bo Whoop woulda been skyblasters.
My how times change.
Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

I bought a Ruger Red Label 28 some years back. Hands down my favorite shotgun. Doves inside of 30 yards don't live to tell about it. I would like to take it for ducks one year. I refuse to take it to the coastal marshes though.

Great pictures. I rarely miss on Quail with my Rem 1100 or 1148 in 410. I have a wrecked shoulder and it does not hurt me. It does seem heavy and I am getting older.
I also have the Remm 1100 in 28 ga and 20 ga. I think they are very good strong guns.
I had the chance to run some ammo through the new Berretta 28ga semi auto. Light weight and very smooth running.
