Buzzsaw:
Convert to Glock? Meh, no. Or that AA slide should not be the catalyst to convert.

I'm with Elkhunter49, my 1911's have never failed me, not even with 200gr SWC handloads during load development. I have Colt, Springfield, Kimber, Desert Eagle(which I feel is greatly underrated) Remington and Ruger. I just can not think of any way to improve a handgun over a truly time tested design. I need a big ol' sticker for my front door..I LOVE MY 1911's.. You do know even John Browning developed add on guns that he said were better? In fact, the last gun he designed was nearly perfect, the Browning BDA.... which became the Sig P series.... which are the best guns ever built. As for Texas Rangers, most of them I know, several, carry Sig P229's except for ceremonial times
