Picked up four food grade totes this morning...

Got the plumbing figured out this afternoon. Just waiting on the stock tank float valve to get here. I'll run a section of water hose between the float valve and hose bib. I'll hopefully have it out in the field next weekend. Pics to follow

Here are two pictures of my setup. Hope this helps. BE SURE TO COVER THE FLOAT WITH ROCKS. Otherwise raccoon's will mess with them. They have drained 550 gallons of water at my setup more than once before I figured out it was them.

Stacking rocks around the float is a very good idea! I hadn't thought of doing that. Thanks for the pics.

Trust me, DO IT. I bought my floats from tractor supply. It has a rubber gasket inside and stops the running once the trough is full. Those darn raccoons would reach in there and pull the gasket off. Water just keeps flowing out. Very frustrating.

I filled one of the totes up today to test the system out and noticed that as the water drained out the tote slowly collapsed on itself. As soon as took the lid off the top the tote regained its original form. Looks like I'll be drilling a hole in the lid. Anybody else experience this?

tx hunter: If you drain the tote too quickly,with the cap on, yes it will crush the sides in. If it drains slowly, very slowly, like feeding water to the trough, it wont crush the sides in.

There is a place called USA Barrells I used once. They are at Irving Blvd and Loop 12. Think it was Wildwood. Had some more expensive used food grade if I'm not mistaken.
