OK gang it's not that I never had a 22 rifle, I've had several but for some reason just quit shooting them. I gave my last to my brother it was a Thompson Center Classic. Gave my Anshutz 1416 HB to a friend of mines daughter. Started shooting the 17 HMR and just quit on the 22's. I still have several 22 cal revolvers and a couple of auto's.
The little Ruger is light and easy to get in and out the window of the truck. The peep sights are excellent and I probably won't scope it. The trigger while not as bad as I was expecting it to be will most likely be replaced. It drew it's first blood today with a coyote at about 50 yards drinking water out of the road. Hit him in the H/L area and knocked him down but he needed another shot to make it permanent. For 220 dollars it's well worth the coin and acts like it was made to ride shotgun in a truck. Me too. .22's are great, but when the shortage came and the high priced scalping stupidity started, I went with .17 HMR. So far, I haven't looked back. They are SO much fun!! Easy to stock up on as well.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Got a Winchester 190 for my 13th birthday (41 years ago). It came with a Weaver 4X scope as a package deal from the factory. Can't tell you how many bricks have been cycled through it. Many a Squirrel in Nacogdoches County fell out of a tree when I went to SFA.
In my mid 20's I came across a Winchester Model 1890 at an estate sale for $30.00. Of course I bought it. A friend traced the serial # and it was manufactured in late 1907. Bummer was it shoots shorts only and shorts were hard to find at the time. A couple years later shorts were everywhere and I would by a couple bricks at a time. Taught my son and lots of other kids how to shoot with it.

Spent 3 hours in line at Cabelas buying my son a Marlin XT-22 VR. Didn't know they were dropping a major sale on M&P's this morning.

I have to say that both of my bone stock 10/22's have always been very accurate using ammo that they like. But now they shoot better than I can, out to 100 yds - since putting scopes on them. (As long as the wind isn't blowing!) For mine, accuracy is all about the ammo.
I have Weaver high rise see-through rings, so I use the factory sights for close in shooting. The scopes are zeroed at 50 yards.

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

That is sweet. I love my 10-22 and my other 6 22s. Volkerson makes a sweet trigger kit for about 75.00 that is well worth the coin.

if you were initiated properly your first rifle should be a .22
I've grown to appreciate the rimfire and have been building my collection
Winchester 94-22 Winchester 94-22 75th Boy Scout Edition 3 Browning 22 (bottom eject) Remington 541-T 4 Remington 597 AAC Ruger 10/22 Sako Quad
several .22 pistols, Colt/Beretta/Kimber/NAA/Ruger one of the coolest is Beretta 87
think i'll add Volquartson, Anschultz soon What, no Winchester 52? You need one, brother. So, between the Quad and the 541-T, which shoots better? Those 541s will shoot, but some are just outstanding. If I coulda kept mine I would have, but I wanted the 52 more than the 541-T.

I have had a number of 22's. Current favorite is old an 552 Speedmaster with open sights, it just seems to shoot where I want it to.
Nice score on the Ruger, it is hard to beat a good 10/22.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.
