Looking at getting a new SxS for getting around the deer lease.
Currently looking at:
Polaris Ranger 570 Full Size 0 Polaris Ranger XP 570 Full Size +$1000
and
Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT w/ EPS +$3000 Kawasaki Mule Pro FX Base (no EPS) +$2000
The 570 full size is obviously the cheapest. Not a bad vehicle at all. the XP is about $1k more.
Currently leaning towards just the 570 base. I like the Mule Pros, but haven't gotten to test drive them yet. Might try tomorrow. Anyone have any thoughts on these? Is the Mule Pro without EPS a pain to drive?

call Adrian at Irving Kawasaki...He is WAY cheaper than any other Kawasaki on the planet....His package prices were alost the same as just buying the FXT at another Kawasaki place...the ride on them is unbelievable...QUIET as well....Pay the money for EPS...You will love yourself....

It's not the sxs you were speaking of but Check out the Massimos that tractor supply carries. Built just like a rhino, parts interchange, $8k gets you a nice 2 seater with windshield roof and winch. Lots of cool bells and whistles. I have the 700cc that runs $9k and it runs like a scalded ape. The tires that come with them are absolute beasts. Took mine to the Rockies with no issues. True locking 4wd diff. Has gotten me through lots of muck! Don't listen to the parts are hard to find business because they're not. Hisun has a plant in mckinney and parts are readily available. For an extra 600 you can get eps. I didn't get it and have never NEEDED it. Nice to have but I made it in the Rockies. Look for the Black Friday deals TSC has. Last year they offered a 1000 dollar gift card with a purchase of the 500cc machine!!

If I were you I would take a hard look at that Mule Pro FXT and go spend some time driving one.
I spent a few days on one earlier in the year. It had the best ride of any UTV in camp in some very rough stuff down by Uvalde. Guys were leaving the Rangers so they could ride on it. Great power as well. And, the ability to go from a 2-seat with a big bed to a comfortable 4-seater while still keeping the same wheel base is a big plus.

I have one, great machines. Changing the oil filter is a pain though. That's the only issue I've had with it.

I thought about getting an old jeep or samurai, but I really don't want to have to deal with fixing it all the time.

How long have you had your Massimo? Any problems? I looked at them last weekend and I really like the size of the UTV.

You're not really comparing apples to apples. The little Ranger versus the new Mule is not really a good comparison. I've been in the new Mule twice and I've been very impressed with it. I'd give it a hard look if I was replacing my Ranger and if the price was lower then the Ranger 900's it would be a no brainer to me. That coming from a Ranger guy.

Swing by the JD Dealer and look at the Gator line. Might be above your budget, but you can look.

I had a Massimo and it was complete crap. It might look like a rhino but all the parts are cheap junk and are not built to last. Within the first year I had it in the shop once and within 2 years it was back at the shop 3 times!!! Oil leaks, Radiator leaks, Carb issues, drivetrain issues, parking brake broke within 6 months and never worked properly, 4x4 would not disengage. With the original cost of the machine and all the money spent on repairs, I could have bought a Polaris ranger. I sold the Massimo for next to nothing and bought a used Ranger 900xp last year. The difference is night and day, smooth ride and very dependable. The Polaris is a well built machine hence the price. Bottom line is you get what you pay for.

Curious to know on the issues.. the radiator itself was leaking? or lines? Have a hole in it? Carb issues are common but hardly a factory fault. What broke on the parking brake? Im very familiar with these and they are pretty solid machines. Most of the issues within that time frame should have been fixed under warranty.
