Hunted Saturday and saw 1 deer from shoulder back. Hunted Sunday and saw 2 young deer and late in the day took a cull buck. I saw less deer opening week-end than trips out during the summer.
Did not see any sign of the rut.

I voted Worst Ever simply because I haven't been to the lease yet. I'm going up in the morning to try and rectify that.

I did shoot a picture of this really old oak tree by my cabin. While in the stand I had a finch land on my barrel. Tried to get a picture but he flew off before I could line up the camera.

I just find it relaxing to be out of a cube in the office even if its in a equally small cube in the woods.

Opening morning brought 3 bucks 4 to 5.5 years old and a few doe passing thru. Always tons of turkey, Saturday evening brought a doe and nubby to the feeder then a 5.5 year old known buck, sunday morning brought a wide 8 and an older 8 to the feeder and a few more doe seen passing thru. Good activity opening weekend and my son took a 5.5 year old 8 point opening morning. Good opening weekend.

MikeC, like you I have not made it to the woods yet. The turn around it over and as of Friday evening I have 9 days off.

Saw deer every time I hunted, even when it was raining. Can't be to upset about that. Only one had potential to shoot, but didn't stick around long enough to even truly think about it.

Even though I came back empty handed, it was a heck of a lot better than staying home.

Not good at all due a flood hitting Red River county on Thursday evening. Nothing moved literally. Not even any hog tracks around any feeders and they were out 24/7 previously.
