Always remember - this is the internet. And it's been proven quite recently on this forum that the personal lives of the guys that are the most emphatic about telling you what you ought to do can be completely FUBAR.

Dated for 2-3 years, hunted the whole time, she came with me said she was ok with it liked the ranch didn't want to change me I hunted before her and she knew what she was getting into. Got married and it was ok, didn't want to go as much but was ok. Had a kid, now she doesn't really ever want to go, doesn't want me to go. Makes me really angry at times.

I'm not saying that I don't love my wife or spend time with her, but the day my wife tells me that I "can't go" somewhere is gonna be a cold with chance of a hurricane day in hell.

I'm Y'all are crazy if he's spending 6 whole weekends gone and think she doesn't have a say. Y'all are telling me that yall's wife could leave for six weekends with friends away from home and you wouldn't be upset. If it's to that point in your relationships then I feel sorry for y'all. I like spending time with my wife and family, so they hunt with me. Wife doesn't like a whole bunch of hunting but puts up with me dragging her around because like me she wants to be together. I view it like going to a Christmas party with her and her friends, I don't like it but she wants me there with her so I suffer through like she suffers through those cold mornings in the blind with me. I take long trips away without her a lot, but not 6 weekends in a row.
Duckcoach, I don't know your relationship, but bending a little to make your partner happy doesn't make you a pansy or whipped in my book. If it does y'all start calling me a pansy, but I have a happy wife that tries hard to please me in every way, and I hunt/fishing 2 to 3 times a week.
If she's throwing a hissy fit and wants you to give up hunting all together, shave your beard, and start wearing khaki pants then we have a problem. ^^^^^^ This! My wife is my best friend, best buddy! I love her so much! She is very gracious with me about my hunting...much more than I'd be with her going out of town as much as I do hunting....and if she could she'd be going hunting with me but the lease I'm on doesn't allow anyone but the hunter to go to the lease during deer season. The guys on here that say they would choose hunting over their wife...wow. I guess "the different strokes for different folks" comes in. In any great/good marriage there absolutely has to be give and take and that doesn't mean GIVE her an ultimatum and then TAKE off hunting...lol

Compromise amigo. You catch a lot more bees with honey than vinegar. Sounds like we are around the same age. One thing i think the "older" fellas are not recognizing are women these days are different how they act and operate in a relationship when compared to the previous generation. my mom of 63 years and my wife 28 act as a spouse like night and day. Compromise aint weakness its tactical No joke apply Art of War to a marriage and youll be wearing the pantalones in no time and still keep momma happy.

Lot of interesting opinions and I appreciate it! I love her very much and I can't say she's wrong. Six weekends in a row is quite a bit.. She'll start going with me after it freezes and the mosquitoes ease up a bit!

I think it depends on how much time you're at the house during the week too. Some wives also like having the time to themselves if you take the kids with you.
Whole lot of ways to do things, that's for sure.
My wife went to Arizona for her friend's wedding and I stayed home with my 2 yr old and it was probably the most relaxing 5 days of the year. All we did was watch TV, sleep, and go to the ranch when we weren't slinging flooring at the office.

My wife of 35 years tolerates my hunting but I don't go as often as I used to. When we hunted Llano, I hunted almost every weekend into January (muzzleloader season) now it's a few day here and there. OLD joke: I asked my wife what would she do IF I won the lottery, she said take 1/2 and leave. So I told her she was in luck, I won $12 here is $6, see ya!

When I got married 17 years ago I told her she could set the date, just nothing from Sept 1st thru second week of January! So we got married in August hottest damn month of the year! Looking back I wish I hadn't been such a Horses rear about the date! !7 years still going strong but I don't hunt like I used too mainly cause of economic reasons but some physical stuff too. When its all done and said, Our wives are our best catch/tag of our lives,if you'll pardon my analogy!
The way things should be are not often the way things are.....

What's at the top of the list? so vultures violating your blind ranks higher than fishing and dove hunting? So here is my list: 1) The Lord Jesus Christ 2) My Wife 3) My Children 4) My Job 5) Extended Family, including Church family Deer Hunting as much as I love to do it comes in somewhere after these. I know a guy who told me he divorced his wife over hunting and fishing. He told me that hunting and fishing will always be first in his life...frankly I was stunned. Seems hollow somehow to me but to each his own.

Six weekends in a row is a bit much. Depends on your commitment level to her and hunting. Honestly though, every hurt, real or just taken that way, will be magnified over the years. If you aren't willing to pay the price later, maybe now you need to do the soul searching on what should your greater investment be in. And if it's not in her then that is a whole other can of worms.
