Ammo is very important in rimfire accuracy. I've tried them all while shooting rimfire benchrest. The good stuff is expensive, definitely not for plinking. I wouldn't go over board on a high dollar .22, she will graduate quickly to the .223, then if she is still interested, you can build her, her own custom, 7mm-08, 6.5X47, creed, etc. If you are teaching fundamentals, and all shooting positions, you should get a smaller, lighter gun that fits her, with a great trigger and good optics. Too heavy is not good for a child, neither is a LOP which is way too long. Now, if the .22 is REALLY for YOU, then by all means go all out on a trainer with a Stiller .22 repeater action, Manners stock, Shilen barrel, Jewell and of course one of those sweet Bushy's on top. I had $5K in the black gun above with another $999 in the Lupey Competition scope and another G in the Randolph rest, Hell I never touched the rifle when shooting it, lined up the crosshair with the rest and touched the trigger, used the rest to move the rifle to the next bull, touched the trigger...it was all about the ammo and tuning the barrel to match the ammo. Anal and BORING. I keep going back to the Ruger American, it has all these and won't break the bank, save that $$ for Tony's magic OR build her one of these, but you want a bolt gun...right?

I hate bolt 22's. They never feed right. Just not as smooth as a centerfire. I do understand the muscle memory part tho.

I'm not buying a trainer for me, I have one that is LH.
I have no desire to go all out on a custom action. I have no justification for it. Heck when I build her a 6.5mm it'll be my standard procedure. Buy a Tikka donor rifle, buy a cut rifled barrel, and call Tony.
I realize L.O.P. is extremely important, and therefore eye relief, and would like to start at the correct length and make it longer as needed.
This will be slow process, I am not going to rush her. If it isn't fun, she won't want to do it. No point in getting in a hurry, her Daddy has his own rifle range, that will one day be in the "front yard". But any RH .22 lr I buy for her will probably go to her own home one day when she is grown. So quality matters, and as many reccomenation I have seen for CZ is making it look mighty appealing. One .22lr bolt action for the rest of her life, so get her a good one.

A 22? Ruger 10/22 is where that discussion starts & ends for me. But if you're stuck on the bolt action, I don't think you'll hear many bad things about the CZs.

Wanting to know about quality. New or old.
I have a LH Savage MK II, and have been happy with it. I was wanting to know of other options that are attainable for non-wealthy people, or stick with another Savage MK II.
Looking for best bang for the buck. This will be a trainer for my 7 year old daughter that is right handed, and I would like for it to be a 50 yard tack driver. I have the Savage MK 11 and the CZ, the Mark 11 out shoots the CZ by a bunch

This is probably not what you are looking for but I have a Remington 34. Picked it up at an estate sale probably 30 years ago. Has a nice balance, doesn't weigh much and shoots well. My girl loves it. Interesting, trim little rifle that was built right from the get go. Heirloom quality she will have for own one of these days. http://www.remington.com/products/archived/rimfire/bolt-action/model-34.aspxhttp://www.chuckhawks.com/remington_34A.htmWhat made the rifle unique and rock-solid reliable was the shell-carrier design of Crawford Charles Loomis of Remington Arms. The carrier would actually lift a .22 rimfire shell (all three varieties), out of the rifle’s tubular magazine into the chamber, simultaneously aligning it perfectly with the rifle’s bore.

Well dang. I wish I could test drive two different rifles and let them have a 100 yard shooting contest using the same ammo. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

Some of the old Remington bolts are real shooters, like the 521T and 541T. But if you want something that will really push the envelope, find an old Winchester 52 that has been drilled and tapped (a GOOD thing IMO, because I like SHOOTERS) or otherwise ruined for collector value. You might luck into such a deal for around $400, give or take a hundred. The 52s are simply unbeatable unless you want to spend $$$$$ on something like a high-end Anschutz or similar.

A Fireman bud has several nice .22 bolt I believe. I'm going to ask if he has any he would part with. I will keep an open ear for any Remingtons and Winchester models yall have mentioned as I'm pretty sure all of his have some years on them.

I am familiar with the market on 52s. You have to realize that you'll see a ton of rifles purported to be in original condition, but are not due to either deliberate deception or ignorance. An honest and well informed seller won't try to sell you a $400-500 rifle for $1500.
