The Sig AMT is the best semi automatic .308 rifle that has ever graced our shores. Based on the 510-4, they are ludicrously light, reliable as a toaster, accurate as can be, simple to maintain, suitable for everything from desert to arctic conditions, and are just ridiculously well made.

Agree, great hunting rifle. Have an M1A and it is lots of fun to shoot. Works well on hogs also.

Browning 1919a4. Get both the 308 and the 30-06 barrels.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

I have several ar308's. most of them use the Mega Arms matched upper/lowers with either 18" or 16" barrels...they all are tack drivers and even though they are fairly light for 308's ive been on a mission to build really light for hunting. this last year H at ARP came up with a light upper, barrel, bcg for the ar....I was lucky enough to be a beta tester before they were released.
after build one I got another one both of em come in at 8 lbs 4 ozs with unloaded mag and a Nikon m-308...of course you have to match up the right rail...in this case a BCM KMR which is an ar15 rail because H's upper uses the ar15 barrel nut/extension
they are the softest shooting 308 I have...cant wait for deer season Wash

Mook,

I had one and it will feed anything including steel cased ammo. It's accurate and built like a tank. The negatives for me were the weight, ergonomics, and the fluted chamber because I mostly reload. Fluted chamber will ruin your brass. I didn't like the safety. Impossible to engage without adjusting your hand on the pistol grip.

I sold it when I bought an FNAR 16" light. FNAR is not a "battle rifle" but I lean more towards hunting and it weighed a reasonable 8 lbs. I like the ergonomics on it because it's very similar to semi auto shotgun which I'm used too.
