You got that right, Shot mine as he was about to run across the road and he piled up about 4 yards and uphill of the mud road, took me about 45 minutes of pushing and pulling, but I got that dude in whole, I was stoked. A bull is a lot of animal.

I doubt y'all will even be there by the time my hunt is over, I was going to try and get by their camp last year, but Sneaky felt the road was too bad for me and the toy hauler, photos of y'alss camp looked like plenty of room, just the road getting to it.

Speaking of that, does anyone that is going have a winch? Doubt we'll need one, but you never know.

Yes sir, part of the reason I hunt alone so much anymore. Folks seem to really change when they have a hunt on the line, the ones that don't are a true pleasure to hunt with. I learned a little late that you have to protect your "secret spots", I have been burned many a time, but a few fellas have been great as well, it's a crap shoot really.

BOBO can probably explain it better than I can, without me sounding stingy, which I am not, just protective LOL

roflmao See those fellas every year LOL I was fortunate to have locals, some being guides, teach me waaay back, then add what I have learned over 30 or so years, I want to work a little as possible. grin

BTW, you where just there, probably drove within 5 miles of where those 2 bulls fell. I know you know where since we have talked about it.

BOBO, you probably should know this area as well, that is the La Salles in the left upper corner. My wife helping me get this one out from about 2 miles in, she is a real trooper and my favorite hunting buddy when and if she goes.

BOBO, I have a friend that had 11k acres (before his divorce LOL) Most of their other land is high, but this 11k acres holds a small herd and at 4-4500 feet elevation year round. Honestly, by 4th season, there could be some of these bulls plum down to where you where the other day.

Over the years, I have seen them move through here, sometimes up and down 5-10 miles in 24 hrs or less, back and forth depending on a few factors.

My wife said she would have considered going, but she cant take that much off from school as a teacher. The more I think about it though, I'm kind of glad she's not going (don't tell her I said that roflmao ). She cant sit in a deer stand more than about 3 or 4 hours and then she's done.

She keeps asking, I keep telling her to pick up a bow. smile

I think I'm going to put her in for a first season rifle tag next year, I might cash in some points for archery to pre scout for her. She has enough that she should draw.

Don't discount her, I did mine for many years, you'd be surprised how fun hunting with your wife is, even better with other couples you get along with. (if you get along LOL)

Crap BOBO, I'd let her use a rifle and be done with it, just as fun with a higher percentage. Shoot, going up for a 3-4 week excursion would be killer, you bow hunt and by the time she goes out with that 1st season tag, you will have them patterned. Plus that tag is good for bull or cow, so meat hits the freezer.

Heck, she may get into it more than you in a few years LOL. I will tell you what, if the wife likes the Rockies, life sure is a lot easier on those expensive trips.

I think its fun when she deer hunts with me. Last year she actually got really excited about hunting right before season. I tried getting her on a nice 10 point last year for her first deer, but couldn't get her situated in a comfortable shooting position as a new hunter. She's not nearly as excited this year as last, but she may come around the closer we get. Although, I've been pretty discouraged this year...not a single deer on cam in the past month.

I'd put them into the nastiest, deepest canyon with downed aspen I could think of ... as far away from the closest road or even a goat trail.

Yes sir, I knew where a herd was too, not a large herd, maybe 15-20 head, but 2 decent bulls from what it looked like in the binos. That is where I was headed if I had not tagged out.

Darn, thats harsh! The bull was taken with the Carbon Icon and the bush was to cover up the huge hole the Bow Tech administered with help from a 125gr Rage Hypodermic.

Good luck to you boys!
