Of all the fellas I have taken and hunted/camped with up there (including some wimmens) I have only seen one person get sick, he was a diabetic to start with. Well, there was that one other diabetic that lost his vision for a couple of hrs, both had type 2 iirc. You fellas should give me all that money your going to spend on "cures" and I'll keep it in escrow for you....Only 10% fee I've gotten sick before but at 14k Well duh BOBO, you "aint" got no bidness being at 14,000 feet SMDH Goat hunting? That is over tree line and not the average place you spend the day, done it too, but just got short breath big time! Thinks I went just over 12k, would have to look at that mountains peak elevation again. I hunt from 4500-10k, depending on the animals, usually somewhere in the upper middle. No for fun. I've even ran pikes peak back in the day.

Yeah RIGHT! Back in the day when he was young....Probably went like this so be thankful you wont have to watch BOBO..."Hey mom, going to play in the back yard", then he ends up on Pikes peak smh. Boy must have been a handful

Anyone know about other animals that we could possibly take while there? I was able to see that we could get a bear or deer tags for an extra $350 or so each, what about Audad? I seem to recall lots of pictures from last year with them.

No Aoudad up there. Deer tags are draw only. That's passed. Bear tags are OTC with caps. First come first serve. You'll have to call or check online to see if any are left. I never see any, but there's a lot of sign in our area. The one thing I do see a lot of and hope to shoot is grouse. You need a small game license for that, along with the HIP cert. You can shoot 3 a day and possess 9. Supposed to be excellent eating. I'm going to focus on elk, for now, but I'm taking my shotgun. If things work out, I'd like to spend a couple days chasing them.

What Sneaky said...
Those grouse are probably the best bird I have ever had, great eating. Easy to take with a bow (how I got mine) You just have to spot them 1st. Don't think I would comprimise my elk hunt over one though.
You also have a fishing license included with your big game tag now, so you have that option if there is fishing near Taylor Mesa. I know the creek that runs along the road as you leave Delores has cutthroats in it, as I have caught them up stream in tributaries there.

There is good fishing there, too. I never catch any, but people that know how to fish do.

I sat once last year in a place that had lots of bear sign. I had a tag. It felt right. I knew it was going to happen. Hours passed. Something was approaching from my rear. Alas, it was the east Texas bear Sneaky had brought along with him.

Found a 3rd season deer voucher, can't locate a 2nd season.

Sneaky, I was using a fly rod with small nymphs type thing's, but I have also seen them caught with tiny mepps spinners and small crappie type jigs.
McPhee resevoir also has fish. Kokanee Salmon, rainbows, walleye, small MB. I never fished it, but heard locals liked it and did pretty good when we lived up there. I bet you could get some good intel from the bait store there in Delores (across the street from the liquor store iirc)

is yep. $2K, a 2nd season should be half of that.. so future trips, $1000 to possibly shoot a good size muley is a pretty good deal since you're making the trip anyway.

I may take an ultralight with some spinners. Who knows.

Hey, you kill out opening day, it would be fun to fish after tending to all that meat, of course, while you wait to go help the fellas pack theirs I go a day or 2 early just to fish, sitting by that nice water on the lake, while looking at the surrounding mountains, just plain peaceful.

Heck, checking on it, it's a 1pt draw. So a % could've drawn this year every other year.
