I bought a brand new Browning gam cam 2 weeks ago...put it out...my dad checked it yesterday and said I had 1 pic and my batteries were dead...so is it the camera or just got unlucky and got bad batteries?

Have not had that problem with the strike Force HD model. What brand battery? One bad battery in the pack will sink your boat. Pull the batteries and check each of them.

I use energized or Duracell and get over 6500 photos on the 10mp setting before the batteries die.

Looks like the latest software update has solved the night picture problems. The original pair are working fine now. I have them side-by-side at a feeding station and am getting good night pictures but something else is happening. One camera is catching twice as many deer as the other. Will test another pair at another location to see if this is an anomaly. I have only tested one camera from the 2nd shipment and the last update solved the night problems.

Will now place the remaining in service and provide an update later.

Great to hear the update worked, now I can look into getting one once the production run has the update.

I have a Browning Strike Force HD model and it seems to be working great during the day and night. I have ot tried taking videos with it yet but have been using it since May. I use the energizer lithium batteries with it and have changed them once.

Just finished downloading last software update from Browning and camera is working great. I did not have night picture issue, but color tone on pictures was sort of purple. That was solved by new software. I'm going to get a couple more.

Funny I saw this thread. I just got home over the weekend and all my night photos are black. Called customer service and he sent me a download to install on a blank sd card that should fix the problem. But lease is 3 hours away so it will have to wait till I get back. I have another cam on another place 3 hours opposite direction. May run into same problem with it. ARRRG!

Well, I bought two of the BTC-5HD's in June. I have had every problem reviewed in this thread. Black-out night pictures and poor battery performance, in particular, have been irritating. Have updated the cameras and even returned the originals for new cameras. Still get the blacked out night photos. Quite frankly, Browning customer service has been good. This camera and/or it's software are junk, however, and just cannot be trusted. Will be going back to Moultrie and Bushnell. Will not spend another dime on Browning cameras.

Are you guys having issues with the 2015 model, BTC5-HD?

I just ordered on from amazon and got a btc-5. this is one time I'm wishing I got the older model with (hopefully) no issues. Am gonna go put it in the back yard tonight to catch any possums eating the cat food.


Adult late onset hunter. Why did I wait so long to get started?

I have 2 of the 2014 models and they have been flawless. One thing of note, I had origianally used the lithium batteries that where recommended, I have used those and heavy duty Ray o Vac batteries and notice no difference in longevity for the cost difference.

I bought two of the BTC-5's from Academy in March 2015. I had an issue with one and swapped it out at Academy. I soon realized I had gotten a BTC-5HD on the swap out. They have the same scew and packaging so Academy doesn't know the difference. I had some of the issues described here, found the SW update, then swapped out the other camera, so now I have two of the HD's and couldn't be happier. I take only HD video and the new model takes much better video than the older model.

BTW, you don't need a receipt to swap these out at Academy.
