The seadrift area is fairly low & swampy to the east, Charlies Bait Camp. You just adapt & learn to live with it. Bunch of these guys have bass stocked in their ponds, so the shallow wells can't be too awefull salty.

Distance from the nearest saltwater is no guarantee of anything. I live 600 miles from the nearest saltwater and my well is 256 feet deep and it is brackish and full of iron as are all the wells in my area. The geologic record for my area suggests that 3 million years ago my part of the world was a warm shallow sea. Apparently it is still there and it is now cold and buried 256 feet down.

Interesting Hirogen. Reminds me of my last trip returning from my cabin just south of International Falls, Mn. stopped at a brand new (less than 1 year), Very nicely log built rustic gas/food stop store. The bathroom fixtures, and they were commercial nice ones, were so corroded with iron stains already that water hardly trickled out of faucet. The coffee was so NASTY tasting it was immediately dumped out.

Would be interesting to get a geologist to opinion the water tables of different areas.
