We owe it to the animals we hunt.
Hey, I'll second that! Granted, we do double check the guns now and then, but I'm the best shot on this forum so, yeah. grin stir lol, jk.

Two people I know have Tikka T3s, one is a .270 and the other an ought-to-six. They're both great. I've seen the '06 DRT a huge Nilgai cow at 287yd. Accurate enough for our use, I guess confused2 up.

I have a T3 Lite in .308 and it's a serious shooter for a factory rifle. I would own another one without even thinking. I have noticed the extra mags can be a little pricey. I also looked for a factory wood stock for mine a while back and almost had a heart attack when I saw the prices.

$750 for a basic rifle with wood stock at BPS. It ought to be good for that type of money. But from all accounts, they're great factory shooters and have extremely smooth actions.

I have 2 T3's, one in .30-06 and one for my wife in 7mm-08 (which I use WAY more than she does grin). Probably looking to pick up a T3 in .223 Rem. as soon as I can nail down what twist rate they come in.

Love them both, swapped out the factory stocks with B&C's and never looked back. I used to be big on Remington 700's but as far as I'm concerned, there's no comparison as far as quality and smooth operation. Tikkas have wonderful triggers out of the box and require zero tinkering, not to mention their accuracy potential especially if you hand load. They make fantastic platforms for custom rigs as well. Not really bashing on Remington 700's, they make a great foundation for a custom rifle too but I just don't have a lot of faith in their factory rifles anymore.

I like mine. I have a 270 T3 Lite. I would like to take the action and do a custom build with it. I'd also like to take the action off a 300 win mag and do a build.

Got a buddy that has a T3 in .300 Win Mag, with hand loads it'll shoot lights out.

I understand the bolt stop, but don't you lose the weight benefit and rigidity? That to me is the true value of short actions.

I'd rather have the ability to run a short action cartridge in a long action to have the ability to seat heavier, longer bullets especially with the Tikka magazines. That to me outweighs any advantage a short action would offer in miniscule weight savings or so-called "rigidity". A standard centerfire short action cartridge isn't going to stress a long action any more than a long action cartridge does.
If I have to worry about the difference in cycling time with long vs. short actions I'd buy a semi. To each their own, I suppose.

I have a Tikka 7MM-08 on order for a suppressor host due to the numerous positive reviews (namely FiremanJG and his good results with them), as well as their very smooth actions. Looking forward to getting some time behind it.

So, why would you intentionally describe this incorrectly, if you truly knew the difference.

Generally speaking, a clip feeds the magazine, and the magazine feeds the gun.

And yes, a factory Tikka is a great rifle. I have shot many, and they are capable of easy sub moa shooting, and some under 1/2 moa.

I know what a magazine is. I know what a clip is. I grew up calling it a clip so I'll probably call it a clip until the day I die.
I know what horns are. I know what antlers are. I grew up calling them horns so I'll probably call them horns until the day I die.
I know what bullets are. I know what cartridges are. I grew up calling them bullets so I'll probably call them bullets until the day I die.

My Daddy and my grandfathers called them these things also. I'll wager they knew more about hunting and the outdoors than all the nomenclature Nazis on here combined.

My Savage 6.5 creedmoor has a 3 inch blind magazine with a true short action. How long is the Tikka magazine?

I am not saying Tikkas are bad rifles, I am just saying this has kept me from buying one.

All the chatter about Tikka rifles got me interested in one. So I got one. Action is smooth as glass. Accuracy is amazing. I even like the synthetic stock. As for whether the action is short or standard, I couldn't care less.
