Get yourself a Nitecore d4 charger they are good for 18650, aa and aaa rechargeables. Best get protected 18650's. The protection stops them either over charging on the charger or over discharging when in use. Lithium batteries are less stable than Nicd / Nimh and can go on fire when overcharged or over discharged. RC car hobbyists use high capacity Litium batteries 5400 etc and cahrge in fire proof bags with specialist chargers.. If you want to see one go on fire in a car look on utube thre ate a few videos oflithium batterries going up in use in rc cars.

You all might want to look at the video released yesterday on youtube by James Burchill re the 3-12. You will find it on Scott Country's Facebook page.
My 5-18 zeroed reticule starts down the bottom left of my screen and only gets to centre at 10x zoom. Most of you have the same issue.
So jimmy cos I think youare jimmyb that posts here how come yours starts in the centre, have you shimmed it or have atn cured the issue and once zeroed the reticule is in the middle which is where it should have been all along. If so when are they releasing the next software update? Hmmmmmm?

Hibbydunk, thanks for the info. I had decided on the D4 charger. I know a "smart" charger is a lot better for batteries. We used to race RC cars almost 30 yrs ago. I'll order the protected 3400ma Panasonics.

Short review of the T38 809 mini Hunting Torch Flashlight Night Vision Illumination Long Range 38mm - $36 w/o batteries.
I used an AR10 with the UNV20 and T38 mounted on the front of the hand guard. One left and the other right of the barrel.
My pasture (I've ranged several spots) has a tree line about 575 yards from my tripod. I could see the trees and trunks with both units. I believe visibility may be good enough to distinguish a cow from pigs but a calf and pig might be tough at that distance. I did have calves about 280 yards away and a raccoon at 225 that I could see.
The T38 offers the same functionality as the UNV20. Adjustable Beam and three beam intensity options. IMO, based on my eyes the T38 provided about 90% of the UNV20 capability. The reliability and warranty is risky but the T38 price point is clearly worth it to me. At the minimum, it will make an excellent spare.
I plan to use the T38 on my 3-12X and the UNV20 on my 5-18X. I will order 2 more T38's for spares.
They are a Chinese product so expect a 4 - 5 week delivery. Once they arrive, I gladly offer one to anyone local to the Austin area to try it out.

The 720p setting definitely felt faster with motion, but on the 3x it zoomed in quite a bit and narrowed the FOV.
I really hope they do something to fix the dimming issue at night...it's been causing me not use my scope as much as I'd like.

your right, I went out again last night . It's the auto dimming that's causing the problem in night vision mode. It realy has messed my unit up. My night vision is nowhere near as good as it used to be.

If you need or want advice on 18650's and what max capacities they can have including the best places to get them there is a lot of info on www.nightvisionforumuk.comA few of you guys already go on there. There may be good advice on here haven't looked tbh. My understanding is the max capacity 18650 made is 3200 or 3400 so anything that claims to be higher tends to be out of China and has to be taken with a pinch of salt and a degree of caution.

Have to agree my 5-18 looked like it was going to be the business in 720p at night then they scrapped it and did the light dimming thing. Having real issues now getting anything good out of it even with a Nm800 that looks three times brighter through my add on than my N50 doible battery and Nm400 i have had for ages. Gone back to an addon on the back of a scope with the n50 on my hmr and nm400 on a sub 12 weihrauch. Better performance lighter and less cumbersome. Seems to me everyone is having different experiences with the nv side of things . Makes me wonder if there were quality consistency issues with the first x-sights made. Daytime is great not really tried the video but as most of my shooting is in the dark the x-sight has been relegated to its box until they sort it or I get fed up and sell it. Will be hard has a bad rep over here.
