Troy is good people. He is what he is...a several generation born and bred Cajun. The people on the show are real - whether fame and fortune has changed any of them I don't know but I doubt it. I do know I'd love to go hunting and fishing with any of them - could learn a lot from them. They live a lifestyle I envy.
I do get a kick out of the fact the producers think they have to put subtitles on there, I understand Cajun's a hell of a lot better than I would any ebonics! It was really funny when they'd run the subtitles for when the Beaumont boys were on there. LMAO, some Yankee's can't understand Texan I guess....

I like Troy. The man's got some bulk in those arm's, which didn't come from sitting behind a desk. My co-worker grew up in Pierre Part, and she told me "that what you see is basically what you get"
To the OP. Savage makes a nice rifle. If I were in the market, for a heavy bull barrel wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

Heck, I'm from Louisiana originally. Half my family is north of I10 and the other half is from south of I10. I have relatives that speak with a Cajun accent - though most of them don't sound quite like Troy. And I have relatives from New Orleans and Shreveport and all over, and the accent and pronunciation is a bit different with all of them. Where I grew up, on the Mississippi River, the speech pattern is softer and sounds like more of a western Mississippi accent. Anyway, listening to Troy sounds just like some of the folks I grew up with, so it sounds like home. There are places in south Louisiana that speak with an accent that even I can't follow. I went goose hunting years ago down close to the Gulf of Mexico, a bit east of Lake Charles. I met my guide, a fellow that had such a strong accent that I could not understand him, and he was an absolutely huge man with a bent nose and with the name of Doris. Yep...Doris, or at least that's how it was pronounced. Normally I'd give a little grief to some guy named Doris, but trust me that I kept my mouth shut and tried hard to focus on what he was saying.
As for that 22 rifle, note that they all have new rifles. Apparently Savage is paying them to use their rifles. Even I'd use a Savage if they'd pay me to do it.

No too many of my relatives still grow their own pot and shoot deer out of season because their welfare checks don't provide them with enough meat.
Judgmental? Maybe. I make judgements every day. But I was just being honest. I'm sorry if it offends you. I find his speech aggravating at the least. If I thought it was genuine I might not be so but I think it's as much a ploy as anything. Same as I can't listen to Ben and Skin (105.3) because they advertise for a couple of lawyers and suggest if you are in an accident you should immediately call them and sue. Pisses me off. They may be great sports casters and magnificent people. But I don't listen to that station just because of them.

Troy is entertaining, the Savage deal is just marketing. They shoot gators from 10" with no sights, just a scope rail.

Passthru doesn't think Troy Landry's accent is real. I've heard that accent off and on for much of my life, and I do believe that if he was faking it, I would spot the fakery. He isn't faking it.

There is nothing fake about Troy. Some of the antics on the TV show is fluffed up, but the man is not fake.

Apparently there are 3 different versions Savage is making. The only Savage I have is the .22LR FV-SR Mk II and it is very accurate. One of the Troy guns is the FV-SR Mark II. From the picture I saw, it looks like they just hydrodipped the original stock and I can tell you that the original stock is flimsy garbage. Hopefully they improved it for this signature series. First thing I did was swap mine out for a Boyds stock.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

The only one of those rifles I saw had a short heavy barrel. It's good to know that they offer a lighter version a kid could handle.

If I thought it was genuine I might not be so but I think it's as much a ploy as anything.
I was born and raised south of I-10 and my wife as well, just east of Pierre Part. What you hear on TV is the accent he was born with, it's not learned or enhanced for TV. Das jus' it cher! As the others have said, that's truly him along with the rest of the couyons, just doing what they do every day. As for the other folks they import, that's for TV... When their days on TV pass, just as the Duck Dynasty bunch did, they'll be doing the same thing they were doing before "Choot 'em!" was printed on a t-shirt. Charlie

I have to travel in that area for business quite frequently. If Troy's accent is fake, then the whole area is in on the con...
