OK, so I liked my last chassis build a lot so I did another one. Savage 110, MDT Tac21 Chassis, MDT butt stock, SWFA SS 16 x 42, PEPR scope mount. I had an older ER Shaw 300 win mag barrel, magnum contour, 24", 1 in 10 twist. Took to the range with some load work ups. Best group at 100 yards .454 with a hot barrel. 70.5 grains, H 4831, 180 grain SST's, .020 off ring lands. Not too bad for a ER Shaw barrel. May upgrade to a Criterion barrel later but will have some fun first. So this is his little brother in a 7mm08

Nice!
Two stupid questions:
What is a "chassis" build?
Did you replace those bolt handles yourself? Considering doing it on mine and don't know how difficult it is or if there are certain brands that are better/worse than others.

Stocks like those are commonly referred to as chassis. AICS is one of the more prominent ones. Those are two sweet looking rifles! How does the 7-08 shoot?

On Savages, the bolt handles are really easy to replace. I am sure that someone has already done it on Youtube. If you have problems I could walk you through it.

What is a "chassis" build?
Stocks like those are commonly referred to as chassis. AICS is one of the more prominent To further it... Most stock have traditional been a single piece of something (either wood or plastic/synthetic). Then later stocks came out with an internal solid block, usually aluminum or some metal, with some synthetic material wrapped around it like fiber glass, a la McMillan and HS precison. Regardless of exact details, these stocks are usually thought of as one solid piece. I think of chassis systems as a frame around the reciever with skin or an out covering. Because the "stock" is built around a frame, they tend to be lighter and often time modular.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Which chassis is that on the 7mm08? 7mm08 is a MDT LSS chassis and the 300 win mag is a MDT TAC21 chassis.

Damm... that 7 looks tight, what ranges have you tried? 100 yards mainly but have stretched to 200,300,400 and 500 all 1/2 moa or better. Still need to play with it more consistently on the longer ranges. Just not a lot of places I can do that.

Very nice, haven't done a chassis build yet, how much are those chassis running ball park? I believe the LSS was around $400. It is already to accept a mag and needs nothing else except a mag itself. MDT web site
