Not sure why some of y'all are bringing up 223 to compare to 6 creedmoor. Google it's use then report back.

A point was made concerning the issue with brass in an autoloader. - The.223 was utilized in a comparison to illustrate this quite valid point. Gas guns are hard on brass - if you can find it after it's been ejected. Not the best situation where laboriously formed custom brass for a wildcat is considered.

For my part, I wouldn't hesitate to work up 6mm Creedmoor brass and loads for a quality bolt action rifle... For an autoloader, not so much.

If you feel like it would be worth it to you, then by all means, go right ahead.

Kind regards, charlesb

Factory 6mm creedmoor brass is available from hornady. No forming required.

Even still, after owning one. I'm not real big on the cartridge.

If you stock some I think the most important criteria is having the 1:8 twist.

Even if you can't find 6mm brass a simple pass through of 6.5 brass in the fl die and brass is made.

I'm building one for ease of running in a sa with little recoil. I looked at running a 6.5 but I prefer to not run a break and this is a good option.

Ummmm confused2 223 is smaller. Bullet and case.
Yes, but by how much? Is the gap between 6.5CM and .223 big enough to justify a market for 6CM? That's my only point.

Creedmoor case is similar or same capacity as 243, 260 and 308. It is a good bit larger than 223 thus requiring the use of the AR10 platform.

You guys are talking about differences that don't matter to most people, and that's exactly my point. The demographic for something like this would be very small IMHO.

If it's a specialty item that they're not trying to sell to many folks, maybe that won't bother them. If it's something they're trying to make money on, I'm saying that I think they might have trouble with it.

I've been wrong about these things before though. It's JMHO, and I seem to be having trouble getting it across.

I get your point.

However, I view the 6 Creedmoor the same as I do the 6.5 Creedmoor.

The 6 Creedmoor is an improvement on case geometry of the venerable .243. Same as the 6.5 Creedmoor is a case geometry improvement upon the classic 6.5 x 55 and the 260 Remington. Both produce equal velocities using the same bullet, but the new one does it a bit more consistently. Low ES is a great thing for hunting and target shooting.

And I believe the Creedmoor was designed to function well from an AR platform.

Now we need a 7 Creedmoor to improve the 7mm-08.

I've looked hard into that. We can't get 7mm Creed right now.

There are a few people making 7mm Creedmoor but not much info. I think Mark Gordon at SAC is one and his are using some 26" barrels that are melonited as well. It's a neat concept and might be worth a shot but I doubt it would work well in a AR like the other creedmoor rounds.
