Had I thought I would find something like this last year, I would have planned accordingly. The biggest issue is for that kind of lease price i would need to be able to bring my wife, daughter and dad on rare occasions, not to shoot anything but to enjoy the outdoors with.

Agree. I think the price fits the quality of lease, but not being able to take the wife and kids is a deal breaker.

Sounds like a great lease but for the price kids should be allowed and shoot off members tag number but that's just me. Also why can't you fish? I understand the birds if it's leased out but fishing rights would help. I will say this sounds like a great place should lease out.

Kids can hunt but they do not have the same hunting rights as paid guns. Landowners make the rules, we just have to follow them. I don't know what their rationale is specifically. No one has birds or fishing rights....I know that fact doesn't make it any more appealing for those that would like to have them, but it's not like you're going to see anyone else dove hunting or fishing on the ranch.

There is a reason this ranch has made changes in who they allow to hunt and how they allow hunters to hunt. The red highlighted part happened on this ranch a few years ago. This is why the rules are what they are today. This accident happpened on a southern pasture on this lease and that part of the ranch was in Medina County. The details of this tragic accident are not that well known.

So. Texas accident kills hunter

Associated Press

AUSTIN - A Central Texas businessman helping to guide a deer hunter on a weekend trip was killed when his partner's rifle accidentally discharged, authorities say.

Jeffrey O. Pollock died after the bullet passed through his hip, damaging two arteries, family members said.

Another weekend hunting mishap claimed the life of a Central Texas teen-ager.

Pollock, 39, was closing in on a buck at a South Texas ranch near the Mexican border over the weekend when a hunting partner accidentally fired his rifle on Saturday.

"His love for hunting - you couldn't compare it to anything except maybe how much he loved his wife and his only child," Nina Gutierrez, Pollock's business partner, told the Austin American-Statesman.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Manchaca Baptist Church in Austin.

Pollock was shot as he was guiding a San Francisco man, Greg Fowler, toward a whitetail buck on the Dimmit County hunting ranch. Fowler's gun discharged as they crouched in the brush, authorities said.

Because Fowler had no idea of his location on the ranch, emergency crews were delayed in responding, said Mike Bradshaw, a game warden based in Carrizo Springs in Dimmit County.

Pollock was president of Cold Inc. and a sister company, Capital Ice Machines, which deal in wholesale refrigeration systems.

On the same day Pollock died, a 14-year-old Boerne boy was shot and killed in Medina County near dusk when a man he was hunting with mistook him for a hog.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission said six people were killed statewide last year in hunting accidents, down from eight in 1998.

Last chance.....the camp house remodel has been completed and the money is coming due. I have about a week left to fill it before the pasture will be turned back over to the ranch manager.

If I can't fill it, then I will be back to the drawing board and looking to join a group that has an opening.

Thanks to those that have chimed in over the past couple of months and happy hunting!

Good Luck TXBomb05, This is a great opportunity for someone to hunt on a large ranch with very good genetics and quality whitetail deer due to a well implemented management program at a fair price.
