I bought one two weeks and it was marked at 3.79 per pound. I complained to the meat market manager and dropped the price to 1.99 per pound. I also refuse to pay 4.00 per pound for meat that takes all day and night to make tender.

Sounds like Carolina type sauce. What else goes in it?

walmart had them 2.59 a few weeks ago, now they are 3.29 so check them out. That seems a lot more reasonable tha $4 a pound.

dang it ... every time I see this thread come back up to the top of the list, I get excited thinking someone is posting where brisket might be on sale ... speaking of, what is the next holiday that the stores might put brisket on sale??? Maybe Saint Patrick's day, Easter, others?

Boy, that's another cut of meat that's gotten outrageous. My wife and I used to do one of those a week, it was really easy to grill them so the thin side was medium for her, thick side was rare-med rare for me. Used to be able to pick up a good sized one for 5-6 bucks and fill the both of us.

Then some fruit loop on the cooking channel did a show on them, and they got popular.

Yep,just like skirts,they used to be ground into hamburger, now everybody uses them.

It's not the ethanol that's raised prices, it's the drought. Lots of ranchers including us sold off a couple years ago due to having to feed them out of the back of a truck.

After Easter we should see a little relief on beef prices, The Primal's, re; ribeye, strips and tenderloin have seen big drops after the holidays but will begin to rise again as we move into summer..

They are showing a weakening market cause everybody quit buying them cause of high price.

I haven't seen any that hi... except the market trimmed ones and I would never buy that.

Good luck! I keep a close eye on the HEB fliers in our area and haven't seen brisket on sale in months.

yep, I get email updates every week or couple times a week ... lots of pork on sale almost weekly ... but whatever became of the .99/lb packer briskets from years gone by? I should have bought a couple hundred and put in the freezer, and sell them now for $4/pound money maker!

Went to HEB on sunday, packer briskets were still $2.97 a pound.

The neighborhood walmart by my house in allen had them yesterday at 2.99 per lb. there were only 2 left
