I don't reload and have shot with a bunch of different 1911s and have only had one stove pipe. I'll take that, I've seen two different glocks have squib loads.

Also not saying glocks aren't good guns because what would be a dumb statement. They just aren't for me.

One thing I need to mention regarding the violin post. KRoyal and I worked within a mile of each other and have a bit of an inside joke regarding Glocks & 1911's. Matter of fact, on his last birthday I asked him to drop by my office and I gave him a new mag for the Glock 40 cal he bought from me. I own both 1911 & Glock, heck, I even own couple of Hipoint carbines I recently bought to keep on the tractors and ATV. If Glock made a carbine I would be the first in line.

I'll take that to each his own. I think the 2 glocks with squib loads would be the ammos fault not the guns fault.

Pretty bad when you have to reload to make your "quality" gun run.

How that holds so true, on both sides of the fence.

And I have seen Glocks jam on many types of ammo.

Lol I know cheers it's a fun discussion to have ever once in a while. I'm sure when I'm older and richer I'll get me another 1911.

That's no bueno to me. If I have a glock I can scavenge any ammo made in that caliber and never have to worry about it not going bang. I don't want to be held to only 230gr round nose ball ammo just so I can shoot a 1911.

Good enough for me. I'd rather shoot a 1911 but know guys who know their business and like Glocks. To each his own.

GLOCK FOR THE WIN!!!!!

But this wouldn't be a Glock thread if we didn't point out the fact that "they don't have a safety". stir

Why would a gun that won't fire need a safety anyway?

Glocks just don't fit my tiny, short, fat fingered hands very well. And the trigger makes it worse.

Lol it's because I have small hands and can't grip the bigger glocks in 45/10mm lol. I can grip them but not comfortably at all.

Know what ya mean. Rented a Desert Eagle in .50 AE one Thanksgiving in Albuquerque. The grip was a bit on the large side and the cartridge was a beast to say the least. They gave me five rounds with the gun, and I thought that was chicken**** but after I fired three I thought five was fine.

Strange, my cheap Para 1911 has fed everything from 185 gr. cast lead loads to 230 gr. Speer Gold Dots, as has the Springfield, Colt, and Rock Island before it...I will never knock a Glock's reliability (other than their inability to shoot lead), but I prefer American designed guns made out of steel that got our guys through two world wars and several other conflicts admirably. As a gunsmith, IMO the biggest problem with the 1911 has been everyone's attempt to "improve" it. The gun was designed to run loose, just like an AK. The question is, how many 100 year old Glocks will be in the armory to rebuild in 2016?

That is the exact round I had all my problems with on my Springfield loaded. 230gr gold dot. It would literally jam so hard into the feed ramp that it would jam the bullet down in the case and compress the load.

Did you fire the remaining 2 or keep them as souvenirs? clap Several years back I saw a box of twenty 50 AE for sale, seems like the price was $10. Had an extra $10 on me and bought them thinking someone might need them during the crunch but never saw a request, now I know why.

I shoulda, but it didn't occur to me. I shot 'em all.

This took place at an indoor range in NE Albuquerque. There was a large window between the indoor range and the rest of the store and there were about a half dozen guys on the range shooting, plus myself. After I'd finished firing my five rounds, I made the pistol safe and put it back in the case and went through the door into the store area. My brother-in-law was standing there laughing. I thought he was laughing at me and when I told him to can it he started laughing even harder. He said he wasn't laughing at me, he was laughing at all the other guys out there because when I touched off that first round he saw everybody else's feet come about six inches off the floor.
