Its a bobcat 100% sure . Go to north american animals bocat. Do a google and you can find pics like that. I have never seen one that clear but seen one close to it.

Post one up, if they are easy to find.

You don't know, so you can't say anything 100%. plus you already gave your opinion two post earlier that it was a bobcat.::

That is a bobcat with a GREAT spotted coat.

Contrary to some advice given above I say DO NOT shoot that animal, on the small chance that it is an ocelot. The ocelot were on the endangered list at one time and I think the "texas ocelot" may still be protected,(but I'm not sure so I wouldn't say 100%)

Here are some links that might be of interest.

Let me rephrase it...110% sure its a bobcat, we trapped one back in Dec. & she had the same spots just not as vibrant as that (& I have pics of the cat, still in the freezer). Plus I have seen, killed & trapped enough to know the difference. It isnt a ocelot.. NEVER that far north

Well, i'm no expert but since obviously the tail or fur can't be taken into account I decided to look at the feet. According to the images on google images that look like a bonafide ocelot. Notice how black they are.

Maggie unless you have a degree or professional experince to back up your stuff I wouldn't be so quick to comment on subjects you don't know anything about. You may think you know, but you don't.

"The Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis), also known as the Painted Leopard, McKenney's Wildcat, Jaguatirica (in Brazil) or Manigordo (in Costa Rica), is a wild cat distributed over South and Central America and Mexico, but has been reported as far north as Texas and in Trinidad, in the Caribbean."

"Range and Habitat: Current ocelot range is from southern Texas to northern Argentina. Ocelots live in a range of tropical and semitropical areas as well as forests and savannahs, but only in areas with dense cover. They are strong swimmers and sometimes live in seasonally flooted areas"

"Many ocelots live under the leafy canopies of South American rain forests, but they also inhabit brushlands and can be found as far north as Texas. These cats can adapt to human habitats and are sometimes found in the vicinity of villages or other settlements."

I don't know what the animal in the picture is, so I'm not arguing weather its a bobcat, I'm just saying that no one here is qualified to say 100% on anything unless you have physical proof. Pictures only tell some of the story, even less so when they are taken from trail cams at night!

Never said NEVER..just not outside deep south tx.

it may very well be Just a bobcat.. But it also only a picture.. You cant prove species based off a pciture. What if the OP is just pulling our leg and actually captured this picture in south america somewhere?? would you still be 100% sure it was a bobcat?

I don't care what it is either way, but the pics of your bobcat in your trapper's report look nothing like the spots on his pics...
why did you edit your post that said to go look at your trappers report to see a bobcat that looks like this one?

I will say that if maggies cat had lost all its undercoat, was soaking wet and caught the trailcams flash at the right angle that it might look similair to the one in question. It probably is a Bobcat given the rarity of the ocelot and the slim chance that it would be in the OP's region, but don't say that it is 100% one thing or the other.
