Now if only berger could get the 195 bullet into production. When that bullet comes out I will be building a 7mm...

I will be building a 7mm Nosler (26 necked up to 7mm) on a Surgeon action in the coming weeks.

Walter Call Bob Cauterucio. He can fix you up with 190's.

The 28 Nosler is shorter and overflow capacity of about 11grains less capacity than the 7mm RUM. The shorter 28 Nosler will work through a standard long action since its loaded length is listed at 3.340 or same length as a 30-06.
I know most loads with 160 grain bullets in the RUM are held around 3225 to 3250 which is only slightly more than the 3200 I was getting good accuracy with 160gr partitions in an STW with a 26 inch barrel. I suspect the RUM is being held back some due to being enough over bore that accuracy is suffering in enough guns to back it off a little from what it could be doing with factory loads to work in many guns. Then again I have been wrong before and have not slept in a Holiday Inn Express in quite a while.

Yes... this is one I could certainly be interested in. I wasn't too head over heels about the 26 nosler due to the fact that I have a 264 wm that I get great results out of but this 28 would be a noticeable step up from my 280's. And since I don't have a 7mm WM this would be a nice round to fill a spot in the "line up". I will be following the progress on this one. And looking to see if Nosler's claims of performance and ballistics truly measure up as it seems they tend to "stretch" their numbers from time to time.

Been around a while in form of 7mm LRM. That was my first thought. Not that there is anything wrong with either choice. Both seem like excellent cartridges.

An improvement in case geometry over the 7 Rem Mag. Interesting. You shoot 180's at over 3000 fps, how fast can you get 160's?

An improvement in case geometry over the 7 Rem Mag. Interesting. I know it's a layman's question but... What exactly do you mean by that? What about the geometry of this cartridge over a 7rm constitutes this one to be an improvement? I'm still fairly new to rifle shooting and don't understand the finer differences of things like cartridge geometry.

Some have been complaining about the belt on the belted magnum cases for years. It is not necessary on any but the originals 300 and 375 H&H cartridges and they were designed with the belt for a headspace device since the slopping shoulders are at such an angle to not headspace off of reliably. But they were made that way for the loading of cordite powder which was long strands of nitrocellulose, so the belt at one time actually served a great purpose.
The belt has been blamed for anything from feeding issues to magazine issues to headspace issues, most of which are someone wanting to complain IMP but hey lets build a better mouse trap and call it better. There have been designs very simular to what is often considered new that have been around since the 20's. A thumb through cartridges of the world will show that.

Are the case dimensions the same on 28 Nos and 7 LRM ? Was looking at the LRM at Gunwerks pretty seriously. The next will be a 30 Nosler and so on.

They are really close one is based on the 375 ruger and the other being the 26 off of the 404 jeffery.

I assume since it is not belted it will not feed into a standard 7mm? I know dumb question but just curious, still have a lot to learn about different rounds.
