John we had 5 of us looking every trail possible and the blood got so faint you couldn't stay on it towards the end. After he bedded down I bet he clotted up and then moved off with no trace to be found. He was moving up through 11 towards the fenceline.

that does suck. ya can do like i been doing. up & don't shoot, set an example. first lease twas on got told by credit adviser, hunting lease bad investment. twas $250.00 year 1buck couple days for doe. 2 deer total. but 24-7-365 hogs. that's little under $1.00 a day. we walked out of credit advisers office & thanked em for advise. on lease we hunted for if deer stepped out & legal no one complained about shooting deer cause of potential. their were plenty of deer. as years went bye & talked ta other hunters, & arguements bout ageing & racks. could see were the credit adviser made a lot of sents. reading your posts, theirs all kinds of deer. it 4 deer county here, if nieghbor takes 4 the other takes 4 & so on. that gonna drop deer heard too. its legal. theirs over 4 bucks been on cam this year. opening week end sat didn't see any deer. ya i understand what ya talken about. was going ta use my muzzy ta try for 1 deer en & chillen. 1deer not gonna hurt in 4 deer county. may have ta use the . 270 make sure i don't mess up. some people have it tougher than others. could be the guy is just trying ta put meat on the table, he might have same credit adviser. Again sorry for your loss.

I was thinking if he still was alive I could put the thermal on him. It can see a deer heat signature from easy 600 yards.

John we let him lay overnight. If he is dead thermal won't do no good now. If he is alive going to be hard to tell if it's him or not and if he is still alive going to have a hard time getting after him especially after losing blood. Just my thoughts.

am sure that everyone that has followed this thread will agree. tis a waist of meat . as have stated in earlier post. sounds like ya'll did everything ya could ta recover the deer. hopefully the person not named in this thread will get chance ta tell their side. deer i never found. 1 buck county, & ya can sit for days not see nothing but maybe doe or two. deer steps out. ya don't always have chance ta age deer, or sit & judge, how wide, does it have two good browtines, is it spike or 12point. if ya blink its gone. Ya scrape ta make car or truck payment's, buy cheap truck, ta drive back &forth ta work, so wife & kids have half way decent car at house incase they need transpertation. what little ya save on the liabilaty insurance, ya pay for repairs, that ya save, cause can't aford the payments for a new car or truck. then cost of rent or house payment, or charging for material ta rebuild old run down house. then get told by credit adviser, ya waiting your money on a hunting lease, cause ya in low low low income. yet every one else is doing it & paying double, tripple, & even thousands for 1buck. yah, just isn't right. as pappy always say's: the more money ya have the more freedom ya have . people complain about Gov. shutdown. it don't do no good ta complain. we tried ta get just 1 doe tag. told not enough deer. so as pappy always say's: hogs the other wild game it 4 deer county, Not Complaining times is hard, harder for some. still waiting for hogs, they'll be back. my posts are cheap. lot of em, it says being submitted. yet get regected ing with android. tis a conspiracy i tell ya again sorry ta hear about loss of deer. am sure ya would have given high-five if it was recovered. best wishes.

Here is the buck we call Goofy. I was able to snap a few pics of him this weekend.

I'm not good at judging age on deer but how old is goofy? Saw where you said earlier he didn't improve much from last year.

He is a 4yo this year.

Last year he damaged his left G2 and right G3 in velvet and how he got his name because his rack just looked Goofy from the damage. Last year he wasn't looking too good late in the season and was real skinny. I think his antlers development may have suffered a little this year as his body needed to replenish first. Will be interesting if he can make it and see what he can do.
