Here are two latest visitors, notice the nighttime nature of them. They're both youngsters, 3-3.5 yos I believe but the first one may be sporting the start of a sticker towards the top of that left G2 if I'm seeing things correctly. Otherwise, things are really slow still. Hoping next week gets them going better out my way.

Just got back from Murray after PM Wed through AM today. Incredibly slow, really windy and you know how deer like wind, I feel that was a big part of it. Did see a 2.5 yr old 7 point this am following a doe but not on point, if you know what I mean. That was it for a perfect morning, no wind and 30 degrees.

Did bust a yote at about 8.30 at 170 yds. Spooked a group of Sandhills by my middle tank. A real healthy female. Now there are 5-6 less yotes.

Good luck this weekend.

I've seen more deer this year than we ever have. We are typically in the same boat y'all are. We hunt just west of Newcastle, about 10 miles. I was fortunate enough to take a nice buck first week of the season, he was running a doe hard....

Throckmorton deer and hogs disappeared from the covert 3G the day before rifle opener. The hogs have returned just a couple days ago. Going out today to patch a hole in rv. Maybe pop a hog this evening if not too tired after working on rv. Dang rv, it's always something.

Good luck. That's why I drive to a hotel. I have been known to burn a steak in the parking lot on my lodge hibachi though.

Sam

Have your daughter shoot a doe. Why would you harvest those young bucks? Long term that makes no sense.

Wow Dan, that is strange stuff but that is how my first 4 days of the season went, including the first day and a half this past week. Deer are not coming to corn and either they are still munching acorns or they are busy breeding in cover. I am not sure what needs to happen but I am coming back out this week to hunt the more stable weather late week and the no moon phase.

Let's keep this thread going.

Yeah, it's hard to understand the deer this year. Very little movement so far and no hard rut that I can see at least in daytime hours.

No luck near South Bend either(for me anyways) saw a young wide 8 chase a doe about 20yds away from my blind. Didn't even acknowledge me. Saturday evening was a dud, had a small lone doe hanging around, even bedded down right behind my feeder in the tree line for about 45 minutes. She came back this morning for about 2 minutes. Going back out Thanksgiving weekend hoping for better action.

Had A buck chasing a doe this morn. On his left he had 2 point that came out way past his ears, and his right side had nothing. He got the pass since I wasn't sure if he was legal. If the were even he prob woulda been a 4 point. Seems like I have finally been seeing more deer last weekend (one small buck)and this weekend (doe and buck). Maybe next weekend I will be covered up in deer.

Heading back out next weekend.

Hunted this week end to no avail. Didn't see a thing. I'm going back out this Thursday and hoping things will change. I've gotten two decent bucks on TC and some nice does too. Unfortunately I've been blanked by them while sitting in the blind. realmad

I hunt in NW Throckmorton County. Things were completely dead this weekend and I think I know why. According to TPWD research does in our part of the state are bred around Nov. 17 so if that holds true the dominant bucks have their harams all sewed up and they are somewhere secluded, even now, breeding away. So I surmise if you can hunt late in the week you may find some worn out bucks coming in to the feeders.

I went last Fri evening & Sat morning. Nothing. My two noisy kids may be part of the issue. I may go this weekend, but rain is in the forecast for Saturday.

We'll be hunting heavy Thanksgiving weekend.
