Just sit back and relax and take in the sounds or just fall asleep and hope that I wake up in time. Usually don't have any problems waking up cause the feeder will wake me up.

I never can sleep, day or night so if I'm sleepy enough to actually sleep I do it no matter where I am.

Great Topic.
I am usually wired by the time I get in my stand...coffee on the way and nice big ol plug for the walk up to it. I just scope all of the wood peckers and squirrels around me and wish I could waste some lead on them without disturbing the deer. Then around 9:30-10 I start getting sleepy...that's when its time to get down and stalk.

....but I do feel a little stupid when I fall out of the chair! loser8

This, and I get up a good hour before I need to leave camp. Drink a couple of cups of coffee, chit and shower.

I've been known to doze off, that's why I always tie myself in...it's also why I just saw that spike walking away last week instead of hanging off the meat pole. No big deal.

I often listen to an audiobook in one ear while continually scanning my surroundings if I am in a box stand where I am usually too far away to hear things. I doze in the treestand sometimes when it is really quiet. This time of year with acorns falling, they will keep me up with all their noise.

I'm usually reading something on my phone....ESPN app, THF, eBay, or LoopNet. I also text back and forth with my buddies who are hunting, those end up being some pretty funny exchanges. Or, I'll just close my eyes and listen.

I'm glad I asked this question, some of your responses are giving me a some much needed laughing time. I may just take some screen shots and re-read them in the blind. Thanks for the responses and by all means keep 'em coming.

When it is still dark and I cannot see, I dim the light on the phone and text fellow hunters and play Scrabble.
When it gets light out, I am too busy watching everything that moves.

I must confess that my eyes are shut during pre dawn hunt. Afternoon, I will check phone and text my buddies, but at 1 hour before dark it gets shut down. Most naps come at 12-2 between am and PM hunts.

I'm usually in full alert mode while in a stand. The deer that I've seen this weekend were all moving fast. If I had closed my eyes for 20-30seconds, I would not have seen them.

Honestly, my hardest hunt to stay awake for is always the evening hunt for some reason. Morning hunts I turn my brightness down on my phone and mess with it until light. But there is something about being in the stand with all the windows open when the sun starts going down that puts me right to sleep.

I just sit and enjoy the moment honestly. Wont let myself sleep because i know my opportunities are limited by a busy work and family life.
