Beautiful deer! It's cool to hear you on the hunting end of a successful story instead of the consultant role. CONGRATS!!!

No, it is an Excalibur Equinox. Wished I had waited a year or two to buy one though now. The newer ones are narrow in width by a couple of inches and just a that little bit narrow would make it easier to handle in the stand or in the tripod.

Thanks, I will see of I can find one and see how it feels. I read your post in the Photos section and figured the PSE was a regular C bow.

Go to a proshop or Cabelas and look at them if you can. I chose the regular recurve limb combo vs the compound style crossbows. I wanted to be able to change strings and allow the limbs to relax in the off season. The compound style a quite a bit narrower though. I bought a PSE Vision Compound Bow package. I like it a lot, just I had never shot a peep sight and my anchor point has changed. Taking a while to get used to both. I had not shot in 10 years so I lost a lot of muscle memory from that and age bang.

Pretty deer! Congrats!

I hate trying to guide hunters to deer like that because they usually don't have the time it takes. But I like hunting them myself.

The big 8 Poulsen shot last weekend was like that. Two weeks of cam pics without him showing up, and then 3 days before the hunt he shows up each am. And flat out spooked at everything.

Luck is handy when hunting them.

Congrats on a great buck and great story!

I hunted bow only for sixteen straight seasons and there is nothing like it. Bow hunting makes you a better hunter in my opinion and anyone who doesn't give it a try is missing out.

To be successful you have to get close and personal, think like the deer, and have a lot of patience, and calm nerves. When you finally take an animal it is a trophy no matter what it is, and to take a wall hanger it is just that much more rewarding.
Good job! up

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
