When I was a kid we used to camp a lot out on my dads place out near lake Daniel's (Breckenridge). We would walk around and just mess around camping and walking the place shooting rabbits etc. I remember several times over the years we came across large cat tracks in the mud. The hunters leasing the place around 02-03 got a photo of one.

The pic is from 2009 and has been claimed to have occurred in about 20 states. It is a pic from Florida, however.

Yes that is the pic. Wow. I am going to have to ask my buddy if he was bs'ing me or if he got it from a friend or whatever. Sorry for the misinformation.

Rest easy, but continue to look for evidence, but cats don't usually stick around long once they've been bumped into by humans. That pair is probably long gone from your property by now.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Iv ran up on 3 big tom bobcats working a trail together following the dead deer I had just been tracking... these suckers were big and on a mission.. they got about 15yrds away before one spotted me. The lead one made a pretty crazy sound when he saw me too...

Well fellas, I spent 5 plus years doing Mt, lion research for TPW while completing my MS. I have spent the biggest part of my life in the Cross Timbers and Rolling Hills in Texas. There are cougars roaming around all parts of Texas. As mentioned before, there are several scenario's possible for what was observed. Most likely this time of the year what was seen was a mom and cub. A male cougar's territory can cover up to several hundred miles, and when you quarter the area it can have 4 or more females in his territory. I always though our large cats were some of the most interesting animals in the world. I work in the area the cats were observed and it is very possible that they are present from time to time.
