I had seen that pic last fall right after the deer had been killed. Not a pretty buck IMO, but a pretty dang huge buck.

I seriously doubt the guy pulling the trigger on a deer like this would know what he scored. I don't think he cared what it scored but just new it was a big deer and he liked the way it looked. Not a stretch either to think that some hunters don't care for that kind of look on a deer. The guy who killed it, happened to like the NT look. I would sooner shoot a really nice typical deer as to shoot a deer that looked like this one. 2cents

They keep saying its a record but its not....two deer are bigger that are known, the benson buck from Brady and another buck from junction that was found dead.

Jeff Benson was a foreman who worked on the Ford ranch up near Brady, a hunter shot the buck and wounded it. Benson ended up finding it and is created by the deers namesake. They also have a set of its shed horns

The buck can be seen at the buckhorn museam in San Antonio
