The Sweede has been getting it done for over 120 years and the Creedmoor is close to it in performance. Part of the advantage for the 6.5s is a history of fast twist rifles and long high sectional density bullets with the modern ones having high BC to boot. Bell used the MS 6.5X54 for lots of elephant and it is less powerful than the Creedmoor.

Have several 6.5s no Creedmore but feel I have enough covered with the 6.5s with the Grendel on the small side, stepping up the 6.5X54, 6.5-284 and 264Win which about covers the spectrum for that bullet diameter.

The 260 Rem, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 6.5X55 are so close in performance I doubt any deer or hog would ever notice the difference. All 3 are good hunting rounds and do well on targets for a long ways.

Much less the Creedmoor, 260 and 6.5x47L all fit in a short action. To some that doesn't matter but I see no point to chamber and carry a sa round in a long action if it isn't needed. The same can be said when comparing the 7x57 and 7mm08 almost identical performance one in la one in sa yet the 7mm08 has taken off like a wildfire. There are plenty of rounds that have similar performance but in different length actions and both sell well.

Is ammunition for the Creedmorer available at most stores like .270 and 30-06?

gain ? i dont see a gain i think its a turd, 140 gr at 2600 mehh. hodgdon load data actually shows the 130 in the creed at 2690, expect 50 to 100 fps slower

I take it you are talking from first hand experience? You own one and have done your best to load for it etc and your comments are based on this...I didn't think so..lol

Why don't you get your facts straight before you start bad mouthing something you know nothing about? I own one and it pushes 140 grain VLDs at over 2750 and I haven't maxed the load.

And you base this on what? I guess you sold yours because you couldn't find ammo? It's almost always available where I go...

just basing it on published data, everything ive ever loaded and chronoed was 100fps less, Texas being the biggest neuter, then barrel length more than likely the other.

the creed ammo is no where near as available as a 270 and 30-06 and that was the question, not can you find creed ammo.

Well, in the future why not base it on facts? Personal experience? Frankly your speaking on something you know nothing about....I know from personal experience...it flat out performs.

6 years ago i had the same mentality, nowdays you cant even find reloading components for select and unpopular calibers. in this day and age im thinking sticking to basic calibers, everything is easy to find. whether is factory ammo or cases. not saying you cant find it but 70 cents to a dollar a case is rediculous. i can find all the popular stuff here locally for 10 cents a case

Never said it was....I said it was available at Cabelas! And if someone else chooses it then they will figure it out...

I mail order much of my ammo as well but really the .25-06 is another one of those "Why" cartridges. It is a great cartridge but nothing that you can't get done with other standard rounds out there. What I don't understand is why shooters argue the point. I don't need a .30RAR R15. Could have gone several other routes. But I like it. It shoots well. Yes the ammo is not always readily available but heck neither is .22LR. The 6.5 Creed seems like a good round on paper. If you like it great. It's good conversation discussing the options. I personally won't be getting one but I seldom shoot my rifles any more so I don't need another one.

Only data I've had issue's typically duplicating is Nosler but they use custom barrels that are pretty long. The other 2 manuals are easy to duplicate one being Hornady the other Sierra.

The Creedmoor is a turd? I've seen it all now!!! roflmao

Published data is NEVER to be trusted.

I've competed side by side with more 6.5 Creedmoors than any other cartridge for several years. It has the exact same external ballistics as my 260 Rem. 24" barrel 42.0-43.5 of H-4350, 140 gr A-max and it'll make 2800 fps. And I've run the 260 on steel to 1430 yards in a west Texas density altitude of 3000'.

The 6.5 Creedmoor, and the 260 Rem tie for first place as the BEST short action chamberings on my list.

Oh, and no 270 will hang with it what so ever.

Here a bit of a better chart comparing the 2 for drop and drift. This references the vld 150 in the 270 but it doesn't work in all 270's.
