It is, but I go in the evening right before sunset, and that hill faces the east, so it's shaded when I run up it. It's not bad.

I can't hike that hill in the dark, or I would. It's just too rough, aside from the snake possibility.

Coming to the end of week one of Insanity. Don't feel like such an old slouch during the workouts now. They're still intense, but I'm starting to keep up about 75% of the time. Really hitting the calves and glutes, which should help in the mountains.

It'll help a lot. Strong legs go a long way.

Did laps in the pool yesterday on my inner tube for the shoulder.

Did a few sets of different upper body/arm exercises on this contraption:

I've had it since high school; we're talkin' at least 36 years ago.

I know I'm all over the board and am not following any exercise regimen, but it's not like I spend too much time on some internet forum. Oh, wait...

Maybe I should just break away and start a thread about "Senior Medical Moments".

Changing it up is good. Cameron Haynes stresses the importance of variety in your training for elk hunting.

I haven't been sticking exactly to my workout routine. I change up the number of reps per set and sometimes alter the movements some. Variety is good.

Did my B training yesterday and just finished up some cardio. I had to do it earlier than I like because of the timing of frac and sundown. The heat took it's toll on me. Only got 3 reps in instead of 6. I started feeling pretty weak, so I shut it down. I've experienced heat exhaustion before. I'm not risking that again.

I was hydrated and felt good going in to it. I've done this before. I'm not sure what the difference was. We'll try it again in a few days after some more strength training.

Sneaky - If you're gonna stroke out, I'm sure your wife would prefer it if you did it at home. Take care of yourself.

colt-I haven't seen 194 in several years. You're lighter than me.

On a side note, I finally remembered to bring my Kennetreks with me to break them in. I'm very impressed with those boots so far.

Didn't have any sour milk, so I'm pounding down some tuna after pounding out a few reps on the weights.

Just some pull-ups, couple sets of shrugs and one other dumb bell exercise, along with a couple of sets in different arm positions on that "contraption" this morning.

Still trying to follow doctor's orders on the foot. I'll try starting up the big hill walking again Saturday a.m.

up took trip back in 70's on my motercycle, totaled out a pick up. took ride to hospital limped out on crutches after they made sure wasn't dead. off work bout a week, light duty when back at work, part of job was climbing 90 feet in air. they finally let me go ta get leg fixed, with promised of job back when healed. had lost bout 40% of mussle by time specialist looked at it. gave me exercise ta do ta build leg back up, before operating. did exercise, getting around good , was still young so didn't have operation. old age wear & tear catches up on person. theirs days just sitting knee feels like some one puts a torch to it, extra 50# doesn't help. so took advantage of hog hunts on WMA, call it do it yourself health care. your body is like you car or truck. it needs mantanance. up on thread best wishes flag

L. bicep is still aching when I pull the cork out of my after school snack. (I know it's summer, but I did a lotta summer school.) And it's my shooting arm/shoulder. 'Feels like it's trying to pull away from the bone. Weird.
