I have a 7mm mag Savage and it kicks like crazy. I'm on a budget and saw that some people have made a recoil pad from a Flip Flop.

Just cut the recoil pad, glue it to the stock and sand it to look good.

How can I make it removable?
Any of y'all done this?
Better ideas?
Will it be ok on a 7mm or would it be too soft?
Could I do two flip flops thick?
Problems with this?

Here's some pictures of ones I've found online:

Well I decided to just do it and see how it works out. Here's mine. It's ugly but if it hurts less I'm happy. I'll sand it down after I try it.

Just hot glue the sandal to your shoulder.

A couple of maxi-pads from your purse taped to your shoulder will probably help with recoil as well.

It's not a purse...it's a satchel. Any those are travel sized Kleenex. Lol

Well, it worked great! I shot 20 rounds today from my 7mm mag and about 40 from my .243. Didn't hurt at all. I was very surprised. Before I could barely shoot 10 rounds and it would hurt like crazy.

Glad it worked out. Also glad you can take a joke.

also you can buy a shoulder pad that goes on like a shoulder holster, or make one

This! In winter gear for hunting in an open tree stand my length of pull starts getting to the point where I have to turtle neck and bobble head til I can see through the scope. Years ago I started setting up all my rifles using a shoulder pad so that I don't shoot all summer in a t-shirt just to find I have to mess with my scope come winter. For some rifles I just add a slip-on recoil pad for summer shooting. For the heavier kickers I have a vest with an old knee pad stitched in the shoulder. Come winter my coat and/or coveralls make up the length of pull.

I have made about a dozen of these as my kids, nephews, and shooting buddies all try to sneak off with mine after the first time they try it.
